Head and Neck Cancer Support Australia We are a small group who have been through the treatment for a variety of forms of Head and Neck Can

Most people affected by Head and Neck Cancer experience a range of emotions including shock, anger, fear and depression after diagnosis. The majority of us have very little knowledge of the disease, treatment options and possible results. Uncertainty at various stages often brings anxiety and confusion. This group offers an opportunity to talk, listen and share experiences and information in a relaxed, caring environment. Hearing the experiences of those who have ‘walked the walk’ may give you and your partner some reassurance, strength and hope. The group also provides opportunities to meet other people with Head, Neck and Mouth Cancer and to hear health professionals discuss topics of interest. Members often feel less alone, more informed and more supported through their cancer experience. We offer an opportunity to meet with people who have been, or are currently in a similar
situation to yourself, to discuss what to expect and some methods of dealing with the diagnosis and
the treatment.

Thousands of people are expected to gather and sing John Farnham classics for a good cause – and to enter the Australian Book Of Records.

Event director Chong Lim and the legendary Farnham Band will be joined by special guests to collectively attempt a world record for the most people singing John Farnham songs. A portion of the proceeds will go towards the Head and Neck Cancer Foundation.

November is Mouth Cancer Action Month

The Mouth Cancer Foundation is raising awareness this month about the importance of early detection and prevention of mouth cancer.

Did you know:
• Mouth cancer affects thousands of people each year.
• Early signs such as unusual patches, lumps or persistent soreness can be easily overlooked.
• With prompt action, outcomes improve drastically.

Let’s empower ourselves and our community with knowledge:
• Check for any changes in your mouth, lips, tongue, or throat.
• Speak to your dentist or GP if you notice anything unusual.
• Share this message — awareness saves lives.
Knowledge is power.

Australians with oral cancer are being left tens of thousands of dollars out of pocket to cover dental prosthetics, because of a gap in public and private funding.
