Here at Sleep Right Sleep Tight, I work one on one with each of our families, run seminars, small groups and guest appearances. This post was hard to write but...

After a lot of reflection, I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to step back from sleep consulting. This has not been an easy choice by any means, but it’s one I know is necessary.

For the past 8 years, it’s been nothing short of an honor to walk alongside so many amazing families on their sleep journeys. The trust you’ve placed in me has been a gift I will forever cherish. I am beyond grateful for the chance to be part of your lives during some of the most important moments, and witnessing your progress has filled my heart in ways I can hardly express.

This decision is deeply personal, as burnout has become a reality, and I need to prioritize time with my family, especially as my boys continue to grow and focus on my health. While stepping back feels bittersweet, I take with me the joy and fulfillment of having helped so many families find the rest and peace they deserve.

Thank you, truly, from the very bottom of my heart, for all of your trust, support, and kindness over the years. You’ve touched my life in ways that will stay with me forever, and I’ll hold these memories close. Wishing you and your families nothing but love, joy, and restful nights ahead.

Sleep challenges shouldn't be ignored because there are often underlying reasons why they happen. As a sleep consultant, I often hear these sleep challenges from parents asking for help:

🌙Frequent Night Wakings: This could be due to trapped wind, gas reflux, or unmet needs like a wet nappy or hunger.

🌙Difficulty Falling Asleep: If it takes more than 30 minutes for your baby to fall asleep, it might be time to reassess their bedtime routine.

🌙Early Morning Waking: Waking up too early can be a sign of overtiredness or an inconsistent sleep schedule.

🌙Nap Resistance: If your baby resists naptime, ensure their awake windows are appropriate for their age.

Here are my tips: 👇🏼

Monitor your little ones awake windows to prevent overtiredness.
Establish a consistent bedtime routine to make falling asleep easier.
Ensure your baby’s sleep environment is 10/10 dark and free from distractions.

First, take a break from trying to get them to sleep. Grab a drink of water, take a deep breath, or step outside for a few minutes. This short break can help you stay calm. Then, try again with a fresh mindset. Shushing, patting their back, or rocking them can help soothe them to sleep.

Are you a baby wearing Mumma or thinking about giving it a go?

I'm seriously a huge fan of wearing your baby, it's great when you are out and about, great if you need to get sh*t done, great if you need to free hand for a sibling and great to sneak in a rescue nap!!

But it's important to do it safely...the 5 rules to ensure your little one is safe at all time, they are 👇

T - stands for tight, nice and snug
I - in view at all times
C - close enough to kiss
K - keep chin off chest, you need to be able to sneak your finger under your little ones chin
S - support, their back

Moving to a bed doesn't have to be your only option! Keep your adventurous climber safely in their cot with these pro tips:

👇 Sleeping bags – these stop little feet from gaining traction on the cot walls.
👇 Lower the cot base as much as possible.
👇 If you can safely drop the base to the floor, it can make it harder for them to reach the top (ensure no gaps where they can get wedged).
👇 Monitor closely; if you see a leg coming up, go in and gently lay your little one back down.
👇 Stay calm and neutral to avoid turning it into a game!
