That week before your period (hello PMS 👋) isn’t just in your head, there are real hormonal shifts happening behind the scenes.

In the lead-up to your period, oestrogen and progesterone drop to the lowest levels in your cycle. These hormones play a big role in mood regulation, so when they dip, your tolerance can go with them.

At the same time:
* serotonin (your feel-good chemical) can drop
* blood sugar becomes more sensitive
* your nervous system is already a little more on edge

So suddenly, things that wouldn’t normally bother you… feel like a lot. Add in skipping meals, poor sleep, or running on caffeine alone, and it can amplify everything.

This doesn’t mean you’re “too emotional” it means your body is asking for more support. Here are things that can help:

☀️ eating regularly (don’t skip breakfast 👀
☀️ prioritising protein to stabilise blood sugar
☀️ gentle movement over high-intensity stress
☀️ creating a bit more space + less pressure that week

These are some things your naturopath might not say outright.. but sometimes you need to hear.

• You don’t need more supplements (you need stronger foundations - sleep, food, hydration, movement, nervous system regulation).
• What’s ‘healthy’ and works for your friend isn’t necessarily the same for you. We’re all built different.
• Your hormones are not out to get you, they are messengers and your cycle is your monthly report card.
• You don’t need to cut out everything you love to feel better.
* Managing your stress isn’t optional - it can undo even the “perfect” diet.
• Quick fixes don’t treat the root cause.
