Happy New Year. 🌿

Last night I wandered out to the garden and picked a few plants and flowers that have long been used as symbols of protection, clarity, healing, courage and peace. I tied on little handwritten tags with the spiritual meaning of each one… and at dinner we each found one on our plate.

The one you received becomes your Plant Totem (or Guide) for 2026 — a gentle reminder of what you’re growing towards.

Some of the messages that landed at our table:

🍃Rosemary: remember what matters, feel grounded, trust your inner compass
🍃Thyme: courage, vitality, good luck
🍃Geranium: emotional healing + restoration
🍃Bay: strength, honour, clear thought
🍃St John’s Wort: bringing light to what’s been dark
🍃Lemon-scented gum: finding the silver lining, moving through an inner obstacle
🍃Olive: peace-making, softening what’s been difficult

I love this time of year as a threshold: a moment to look back with gratitude, and look forward with clear-hearted intention.

A line I come back to often is:
“What we choose on purpose, grows.”

🌏✨ The Bhutan Yoga Walk: How It’s Different from the Japan Yoga Walk ✨🌏
For anyone who joined me on my Japan Walk, you’ll find that the Bhutan Yoga Walk is similar, but also quite different! Here’s how:

🦶 A Bit Less Walking:
In Japan, we focused on the Kunisaki Peninsula with 4-6 hours of walking per day. In Bhutan, we’ll be covering more ground, so the walking will be around 2-3 hours a day. We’ll still have stunning hikes but with more time to travel and explore!

🌸 Cultural Immersion:
Travel to Bhutan is a bit more involved so we’ll make sure we see Bhutan’s most beautiful and significant places, including monasteries, nunneries, and cultural landmarks, to get a true sense of its rich culture.

🧘‍♀️ More Yoga:
In Japan, we fit yoga into our walking days. In Bhutan, we’ll have more dedicated time for yoga, with sessions every morning and most afternoons. A perfect way to complement the spiritual energy of Bhutan!

🙏 More Time in Nunneries and Monasteries:
In Japan, we had the privilege of joining a Buddhist monk twice in his morning meditation, but in Bhutan, we’ll meditate or join prayer sessions at nunneries and monasteries 6 times! A deep connection with Bhutan’s spiritual heart.

🎉 Attend a Buddhist Festival:
We’ve timed the Bhutan Yoga Walk to coincide with the Jakar Festival! Experience vibrant Cham dances, folk music, playful jesters, and the sacred unfurling of the thongdrel. A truly unique cultural experience!

🧘‍♀️ Optional 3-Day Retreat in Nepal:
Want to extend your journey? You can join a 3-day yoga and meditation retreat at the sacred Nammo Buddha Monastery in Nepal—one of the holiest Buddhist sites in the world!

After taking three incredible groups on Japan’s Kunisaki Trek, I’m excited to announce our next adventure: Bhutan 2026! 🏔️

Bhutan has always captivated me with its peaceful landscapes and rich Buddhist traditions, and now it’s time for us to explore it together. This journey will blend daily yoga, nature walks, cultural experiences, and meditation with Bhutanese monks and nuns, just like our past retreats—but with Bhutan’s unique magic. 🌿

If you’ve joined me on the Kunisaki Trek, you already know how transformative these journeys can be. I can’t wait to share this experience with you! 💛
