An Important Update on Our Billing Policy
Eaton & Australind Medical Centre has made the strategic decision not to participate in the government's new Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program (BBPIP) from November 1, 2025.
Our commitment is to quality, patient-centred medical care. The financial structure of the new program is insufficient to support the time and resources required for the comprehensive consultations our patients deserve. Participation would necessitate a shift to a high-volume, "6-minute medicine" model, which is contrary to our practice philosophy.
Our current mixed billing policy will continue unchanged. This approach allows us to maintain our high standard of service and ensure the long-term viability of our practice for the community. We remain dedicated to providing accessible care, and we will continue to bulk bill DVA patients, Commonwealth concession card holders, and children under 16yo.
Importantly, while we will not commit to bulk-billing all appointments, the new incentive does make it more viable to bulk bill shorter, uncomplicated appointments for all patients. Where we previously applied discounts to the standard private fee for simple visits, many of these visits may now be bulk billed under the new arrangements. As a result, a significant number of patients will benefit from these changes, even though we are not participating in the full bulk billing program.
Your family's health is our priority, and this decision ensures we can continue providing the quality care you trust.
