When you’re highly sensitive, it's often very hard to be around other people or too much noise because you sense everyone’s energy and emotional state. And way too often, it becomes “normal” to constantly feel overwhelmed by life and this reality.
If this sounds familiar, here’s something to consider - where is your attention? Specifically, are you most often focused INWARDS or OUTWARDS?
When I’m feeling overwhelmed and then remember to check in, my attention has usually collapsed inwards. Some part of me has felt the beginning of overload and gone into panic.
My mind starts to spiral and my focus narrows until I can’t see or feel or hear anything but those panicked thoughts whirling around (usually repeating some variation of “too much, too much, too much aaaaahhhh”).
But there are some simple ways to expand the range of my attention again. The Lighthouse is the space where I’ll be sharing those attention hacks… and everything else I’ve learned about living with high sensitivity and a brain that processes the world in some non-typical ways.
