Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year!

Since we weren’t able to have a group meet-up in December, I wanted to see what everyone thinks about catching up this month. I’m thinking of something low-key and casual during the last week of January.

I’d love to hear your thoughts—feel free to suggest any locations or activities you’d enjoy, and let me know which day works best for you.

Looking forward to hearing from you all and hopefully seeing some of you soon!

As always, if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to myself and the other admins đŸ˜ŠđŸ«¶đŸ»

"Thanksgiving Dinner for Embrace"

Good news everyone: our meetup for November is officially locked in. đŸŒ±

We're having dinner to celebrate Thanksgiving and all that we have to be grateful and thankful for.

Everyone's mental health journey is different. It's hard to accept and understand that, but it's ok. What matters is showing up for yourself and for the other people in this support group, even if you (or we) don’t have all the answers. Mental health isn't a destination; it's a journey that we’re all on together.

At Embrace, we try to create a safe space for sharing our different experiences and connecting with like-minded people who can empathize and understand what we are dealing with and going through. Even if we (as a group of people) can’t fully grasp what you’re dealing with and or how you're dealing with it, we are here to offer support and kindness. đŸ€

Please check our closed group for further details regarding when and where the meetup is: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1570895626635121

Comments/questions: please let one of our admins or co-ordinators know and we'll get back to you asap.

P.S. still have some badges left to give away as well, thanks to Sarah for them! Let’s lift each other up and embrace the strength that exists within us all.

"Embracing Narrandera for Mental Health Month"

It’s that time of the year again! Our humble little support group is coming together to "Embrace Narrandera" as part of Mental Health Month. đŸŒ±

This journey is all about meeting new people and exploring new places, wherever that may take us.

We appreciate that everyone's mental health journey is different, and that’s okay. What matters is showing up, even if you don’t have all the answers. Mental health isn't a destination; it's a journey that we’re all on together.

At Embrace, we create a safe space for sharing experiences and connecting with like-minded people who understand. Even if we can’t fully grasp what you’re dealing with, we are here to offer support and kindness. đŸ€

Please join us on *Saturday, October 26* for our next meetup:
📍 10am: The Yard, 78-80 East Street, Narrandera.
📍 11am: Tiger Moth Memorial, 23 Cadell Street, Narrandera.

More info here:

We’ll also have some awesome badges to give away, thanks to Sarah!

Let’s lift each other up and embrace the strength within us all.

Got some good news for everyone. Belinda Gardner has offered to step up and help with the co-ordinating for Embrace.

Belinda is more than just a pet sitter and dog walker, she's a very kind, patient and understanding person. You have to be to offer to do something like this.

Co-ordinating a mental health support group can be really tough. It's not all cuddles, hugs, rainbows and unicorns. We've had some people who have made others (including me) feel uncomfortable and unsafe. Part of organizing a group like this is having difficult discussions with people regarding sensitive issues. This is one of the reasons why we have the moderated closed group, rules and regulations.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you Belinda for stepping up to the extra responsibility and helping out with this. Will help me immensely and I cannot thank her enough. You're the best.

If anyone else is keen to get more involved with Embrace and Mental Health support in Wagga Wagga and surrounding areas please get in contact with us and let us know.

About

Did you know that there is a peer run and led mental health support group in Wagga Wagga called Embrace? Started by Samantha Brunskill (@Willow Jayne) in 2015, Embrace has discreet events where you can meetup with other people of all ages and genders living with mental illnesses in a safe public space.

Embrace is a free support group where we take responsibility for ourselves and be there for each other. We meet as a group every month to discuss mental health and life in general. Embrace is for anyone living with any form of mental illness or addiction. Some members of embrace have bi-polar disorder but it is not just a group for people with that diagnosis. Any mental health condition, be it a personality disorder, ADHD, anxiety, Asperger’s Syndrome, autism, depression and or addiction (alcohol, drugs and gambling). Embrace is for each and every one of you.

We have a closed group as well so that members can interact in a private, safe and confidential space on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/704966452996890/

We also have two indoor soccer teams: Inclusion and Unity. If you would like to play for one of these teams please let us know.
