Awesome to have collaborated with Equilibrium Sports & Spinal to present at Glen Iris Cricket Club yesterday!
Great crew, great questions — and some seriously committed cricketers. 🏏🔥

Here are 5 key takeaways from our presentation that every park cricketer should know:

1️⃣ Warm up with purpose
A proper 2–3 minute warm-up (hips, thoracic, glutes, shoulders) boosts performance and prevents 80% of common cricket niggles.

2️⃣ Your spine hates surprises
Most back pain comes from sudden spikes in bowling or sprint loads. Keep your weekly loads steady — especially over Christmas/January.

3️⃣ Sprint once a week (or don’t sprint at all)
The quickest way to tear a hammy is to sprint for the first time on Saturday.
Just 3 x 30m at 60–70% midweek can save your season.

4️⃣ Take care of your shoulders
Throwing cold is shoulder su***de.
10 warm-up throws + a bit of cuff activation = pain-free fielding.

5️⃣ Recovery > intensity (especially after 30)
Sleep, hydration, movement the next day, and a quick walk after bowling make a huge difference in how your body pulls up.

Big thanks again to Glen Iris CC for having us — loved being part of your season preparation. If you’ve got niggles or want help building your own cricket program, reach out anytime! 👊

Try walking on your toes for 5 mins. 👣 How does your ankle feel? Does your knee feel funny? 🗯⁣

Now imagine walking like this for 40 years! 😱 ⁣

Post a neurological event 40+ years ago, this patient has been toe walking. This has caused significant disabling knee and ankle pain, causing her to avoid weight shifting to the right side. 🤕⁣

Before we could work on weight shifting, we needed to provide a stable base of support. 🧱⁣

A few weeks ago, I sat down with dentist at and we had a quality discussion around jaw pain, headaches, tooth care, cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics and much much more.🦷

I was blown away with the amount of opportunity there is for Physio and Dentistry to work even closer together. 🤝

Here are some snippets from our chat! Stay tuned for the full video next week👌My camera work still obviously needs some work though 🤣

👨‍🔬INJURY EQUATION👨‍🔬⁣
LOAD on tissue at time X is GREATER than Tissue TOLERANCE at time X. ⁣

Or even more simply: ⁣

Load > Tolerance = Risk of Injury ⁣

Load can be broken up into the following variables. ⁣

Frequency: How many times a week do you plan on Training? 📒⁣

Intensity: How hard you plan on Training. Your rate of perceived exertion. 🥵⁣

Volume: Your total workload per training session. ⌛⁣

How do we Improve Tissue Tolerance? GRADUALLY increasing exposure to load. ⁣

Moral of the story: If you haven't done much exercise over the past few weeks then doing 6 days of high intensity, high volume training straight away may not be the best idea. 🤔

Performance VS Function🤓⁣

Imagine if you took your broken down car to the mechanic. What if when you recieved the car back, it wasnt just in working order, it was running smoother than ever before. 🚗🏎⁣

When we tell someone we want to get them back to function, we are essentially telling them we want to get them back to working order. 🔨⛑⁣

What if we challenge ourselves to get our patients to peak performance? What if we go beyond just "working order" to " better than ever". 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️⁣

Not everyone has to be an athlete to be treated like one! 🏅
