Russell Greenham has never been one to sit still. From a lifetime of hard work as a shearer across the Western District, to caring for bowling greens in Portland, his love for green grass and staying active has never faded.

Today, with the support of La Bella Life, Russell continues to do what he loves. He plays bowls twice a week, adapts the game using an arm aid, and shows with the right support, people of all abilities can keep doing the things that matter most to them.

Reminding us that life doesn’t stop when things change, it simply grows in new directions, just like his amazing vegetable garden.

Feeling the heat? Don’t let it get the better of you ☀️

Another heatwave is expected across parts of south-eastern Australia this weekend.

Stay cool with these simple tips:

💧 Cold drinks and meals
👕 Light, loose cotton clothes
🏠 Stay indoors during peak UV hours (11am-3pm)
❄️ Cool packs, showers or put feet in cold water
⏰ Do chores/exercise early morning
🕶️ If outside: sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and a water bottle
📞 Check in on friends and family

Older Australians are more vulnerable in extreme heat, so taking care of yourself, and checking in on each other, is especially important this week. A quick call or visit can make all the difference.
Extreme heat can be challenging, especially at home.

Our Care Managers and friendly team members will also be there for a chat and catch up. Lunch starts at 12 noon in Portland (Tue 24 Feb), Camperdown (Wed 25 Feb) and Warrnambool (Thu 26 Feb).

You can use 2 hours of Group Social Support from your Support at Home package, and you can bring a guest for $50 per head.
