We recently wrapped up our first Wild Camp for 2026 with our 8–10 boys group, and it was a great weekend from start to finish!

The campers spent the weekend bushwalking, fossicking, camp cooking, enjoying the slip and slide, and finishing the night with an outdoor movie by the campfire.

Throughout the camp, the group had opportunities to build independence, work together, problem solve, grow their confidence in a new environment and most importantly, make some new friends.

We're stoked to have had such a fun group of campers to start off the year, and can't wait for the next one in April!

Earlier this year, Teddy and Tallow took a little staycation to Stoney Aqua Park, soaking up the camping life and enjoying some of the beautiful local spots we’re lucky to have nearby.

We love having places like this in our community that give families, children, and groups the chance to get outdoors, try something different, and enjoy time together in nature.

It’s a good reminder that you don’t always have to go far to find somewhere special, especially with so many fun and magical places nearby on the Mid North Coast!

This term in our Adventure Group, we’ve been exploring local spaces and trying our hand at fossicking.

The group has been learning about the different crystals, geodes and agates that can be found in our area, and how they differ from what might be found in other places. Alongside that, we’ve been working on a range of OT goals through the activity — including sensory processing, tactile tolerance, proprioceptive input, sustained attention, fine motor skills, and building confidence to try new experiences.

There’s been plenty of digging, sifting and searching, with lots of hard work and focus along the way.

Building balance and confidence can look like one small step at a time. Slackline play invites kids to practise steady feet, strong cores, and body awareness while they test what their body can do in a safe, supported way.

We love this kind of challenge because it builds coordination, focus, and trust in your body. It also gives plenty of chances to pause, reset, and try again.

Has your child ever tried a slackline, stepping stones, or balancing along a log? What helps them feel confident when they’re practising balance?

Even our therapy dogs co-regulate. Sometimes self-regulation is tricky and our nervous system needs support from someone steady nearby. This moment with Teddy and Tallow is a simple reminder that calm can be shared.

Being close to a safe person (or animal) can help bodies slow down, breathing soften, and connection feel easier. At Rosewood, we use co-regulation in lots of ways—through a trusted adult, a supportive therapist, and sometimes with our gentle four-legged team.

What helps you (or your child) feel more regulated?
