Swift Street Medical Centre had a surprise visitor this week Dugald Saunders MP to the practice to give the Antenatal clinic recognition for their recent Commonwealth Award.
Well done 👏🏻👏🏻 Swift Street Medical Centre in conjunction with Wellington Aboriginal Cooperation Health Service for being nominated and being finalists in the “Stronger Medicare Awards” 🏆for their Antenatal services in Wellington🤰🏽. The “Stronger Medicare Awards are designed to recognise and honour Medicare Champions🏅from around Australia 🇦🇺 who provide exceptional care, embrace innovation, and work together to improve the health of their community” (Dubbo Photo News).
The team were honoured at Parliament House in Canberra in which I am pleased to announce won an award 🥇 for “honouring excellence in healthcare, and passion for their patients and community”.
The Antenatal Service 👶🏽 provides much needed care to the Wellington community especially those without family support, single mothers, teen mothers, mothers struggling with addiction, mothers experiencing domestic violence and First Nation mothers so they can receive their care close to home and country. The team is recognised for supporting the regional community with effective multidisciplinary care including two GPs 👩🏻⚕️👨🏼⚕️, a Midwife 🧑🏻⚕️and a Aboriginal Health Nurse 🧑🏾⚕️. The service works closely with the local hospitals 🏥, the Aboriginal Health service and Primary Health Network to provide full access to local health services 🩺. The clinic has cared for more than 450 woman in the past 12 months and provides bulk-billing services, including home visits and support for women from the early stages of pregnancy to postpartum. It has a focus on the emotional and social wellbeing of patients.
