As you may already be aware we have several new doctors commencing at Swift Street Medical Centre. Dr Thein Aung has already commenced and we have more coming the first week of February. 😷Influenza Vaccines are available book in now for clinic on Thursday 1st May 2025 with more clinics to follow 😷💉

Are you…..

🦠 Over 65 years
🦠 6 months - 5 years of age
🦠 Pregnant
🦠 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander over 6 months of age
🦠 or have a Medical condition that puts you at high risk

….. Then you are eligible for the free influenza 2025 vaccine 💉

If you do not meet this criteria please speak to your GP about a private script for the vaccine and private billing fees will apply.

Please call ☎️ Swift Street Medical Centre on 68452084 to book in for your Flu vaccine.

Please note 📝 appointments for flu vaccines will be booked in to either a Dr or nurse and will be bulk billed (no cost) provided that the consult with the Dr is about the flu vaccine. If other medical issues are discussed with the Dr during this time it would be considered a consultation and charges will apply.

Last week we said farewell to an absolute legend Dr Jean Littlewood. We here at Swift Street Medical Centre will miss her laughter, kind heart and her bubbly personality. Dr Littlewood has been here at Swift Street Medical centre for 2 years and is now broadening her education and career at Coonabarabran. We wish Dr Littlewood the best of luck with her medical career and hope she makes it back to us again soon

The new Doctors 👩🏼‍⚕️👨🏼‍⚕️👨🏻‍⚕️ commencing in February can now be booked in on Hot DOCs through our website. Appointments available as early as the 13th February however with cancellations this is updated every 20 minutes and you maybe able to get appointments on the day. Please check Hot DOCs regularly for available appointments.

Swift Street Medical Centre had a surprise visitor this week Dugald Saunders MP to the practice to give the Antenatal clinic recognition for their recent Commonwealth Award.

Well done 👏🏻👏🏻 Swift Street Medical Centre in conjunction with Wellington Aboriginal Cooperation Health Service for being nominated and being finalists in the “Stronger Medicare Awards” 🏆for their Antenatal services in Wellington🤰🏽. The “Stronger Medicare Awards are designed to recognise and honour Medicare Champions🏅from around Australia 🇦🇺 who provide exceptional care, embrace innovation, and work together to improve the health of their community” (Dubbo Photo News).

The team were honoured at Parliament House in Canberra in which I am pleased to announce won an award 🥇 for “honouring excellence in healthcare, and passion for their patients and community”.

The Antenatal Service 👶🏽 provides much needed care to the Wellington community especially those without family support, single mothers, teen mothers, mothers struggling with addiction, mothers experiencing domestic violence and First Nation mothers so they can receive their care close to home and country. The team is recognised for supporting the regional community with effective multidisciplinary care including two GPs 👩🏻‍⚕️👨🏼‍⚕️, a Midwife 🧑🏻‍⚕️and a Aboriginal Health Nurse 🧑🏾‍⚕️. The service works closely with the local hospitals 🏥, the Aboriginal Health service and Primary Health Network to provide full access to local health services 🩺. The clinic has cared for more than 450 woman in the past 12 months and provides bulk-billing services, including home visits and support for women from the early stages of pregnancy to postpartum. It has a focus on the emotional and social wellbeing of patients.

We have had a very busy week here at Swift Street Medical Centre. For those who are not aware WIN television came to our practice this week to film footage of Dr Spencer talking about the rural doctors crisis. Dr Spencer is very passionate about the Wellington community and rural NSW communities in general and is leading the way making awareness and traction of the current crisis. Please see below WIN television interview with our Principal Dr Ian Spencer OAM.

Please note we have also had A Current Affair film us and we have been told there will be a full show on the current rural doctors crisis featuring Dr Spencer and will air sometime next week. Watch this space.
