He's off to work
Bearing the weight of the bills
Her indoors
With twelve hours to fill
And up six times in the night, still
Each thinking that the other
Has struck the better deal

Casting up
And putting down
Petty remarks and resentments abound
So much more
To disagree about now

Negotiating lie-ins
That were once spent together
Taking turns
When one is under the weather

Tag-teaming
Ships in the night
That never-ending
Relay race

Passing the baton
For another hour
Right, it's your turn
I'm off for a shower ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

But when all's said and done
If I could choose anyone to
Navigate through
This parenthood
It would always
Be you

Eavesdropping and smiling
At the little chats you have
Remembering that actually
You're a bloody good dad

But oh remember
That bloated adolescence of ours?
Carefree and easy
Doing nothing for hours

And of course, I wouldn't change it
It's better now we've him

I guess what I'm saying is
I miss you
A bit

Thinking of all the beautiful women in this world. Lots of mixed emotions on this day. Some will celebrate, others will grieve, some will remember, others will be torn. Whatever today means for you, just know that I hold you all in my heart. For you are amazing women, regardless of your status as a mother. You have nurtured, loved, held space, and grieved with all those on your circle. In that sense, you are a mother. Same same, but different. ❤️

Anzac Day 2022
Today I honour all those that fought for freedom. Not just for Australia, but for every nation. Wars are often fought by servicemen and women who bravely put their bodies on the line for a cause that they really never understood. But what they did understand was that their country “needed” them, and they fought to keep themselves and their comrades alive. War is ugly… on all sides. Everyday I pray for peace on this Earth. Today I remember Australia’s fallen, I honour the returned service men and women, and I thank all the families for their sacrifices. I hold foremost in my heart and mind, the battles that are played out today in Ukraine as people are literally fighting to live. It still hard to wrap my head around the fact that as I have the privilege to celebrate and remember our soldiers, there are many people with traumatic unfolding stories playing our right now. As the wife to a returned veteran and currently serving soldier, mother to three beautiful and resilient army brats, former servicewoman, today means a lot. And it makes me proud to be representing my country in a land that we once considered our enemy. Here’s to long lasting friendships between nations, and to peace on the Earth. 🌺

I met the most amazing doula today. My soul is happy. Watch this space as I learn more about birth in Japan and grow as a doula. (For those of you that are not aware, my family and I have moved to Tokyo, Japan. I took 5 months off working in any capacity to fully immerse into this culture. To let the ebs and flows of our/my transition to happen. To allow change to be organic and accept sitting with feeling uncomfortable. I am now ready for what the world has in store for me 🥰🙏)

A huge shout out for all of you amazing people that are hanging in there no matter how tricky life may be. I saw this tree today perched high up on a cliff. It was a reminder of how strong one can be if you are well grounded. With strong roots, you can withstand many storms. And no matter how scary the outlook is… YOU WILL be OK. Have a great weekend amazing people. ❤️❤️

A huge apology for being so quiet on here lately. There are huge changes happening in my life and my family needed to be my priority. I can now announce that we will be moving to Japan! A very exciting journey for our family… but one that also comes with a lot of trepidation, anxiety and sadness as we say farewell to all things that are familiar to us in Australia. I have also made the tough decision to resign from the ADC to hold space for my family as we transition into our new normal. Last week was my final week. 😢 So here’s cheers to the next step… keep following me as I step into the world of doula-ing in Tokyo!!
