What our junior volleyball screening data is revealing about back pain 👀🏐

At Star Physio WA, we’ve been screening junior volleyball athletes using the Modified Biering-Sørensen Test to better understand volleyball back pain and spinal endurance.

What we’re seeing so far:
✔ Big differences between athletes of the same age
✔ Some pain-free athletes fatiguing early
✔ Some athletes with a history of pain performing well
✔ Endurance, growth, load, and recovery all matter

Low back endurance = earlier fatigue → technique breakdown → higher injury risk.

The good news?
💪 Back endurance is trainable
🧠 Many problems can be addressed before pain starts
