Hello, I’m Danielle.

I’m a credentialed mental health nurse and equine-assisted mental health practitioner, with 20 years’ experience across mental health, wellbeing, and education settings.

The Soulful Herd is the heart where this work comes together. Shaped by curiosity, relationship, and connection, it offers a different pace and a different way of being supported, grounded in being with rather than fixing.

Care, consent, and the wellbeing of both people and animals sit at the centre of this work.

Meet Neptune 🐾

One of the affectionate hearts of The Soulful Herd.
As a rescue, Neptune found his pack out here at 10 months old, bringing with him a playful spirit and a deeply loving nature.
He’s happiest when he’s sitting on someone’s feet (as you can see), he’s drawn to closeness and connection.
He reminds us that grounding can be playful. Sometimes it looks like warmth, weight, and a gentle insistence on staying right here in the moment.
A quiet reminder that belonging can grow through safety, time, and care.

One of the guardian hearts of The Soulful Herd.

A gentle giant with an even larger sense of responsibility, Falkor is loyal, watchful, and deeply committed to keeping his people safe, even if that sometimes means announcing it loudly.

He reminds us that protection and vigilance often come from a place of care, shaped by instinct and experience.

In trauma-informed spaces, we know that safety doesn’t always arrive quietly sometimes it arrives big, expressive, and standing (or sleeping) very close by.

Safety is not something we can demand, rush, or force.
It’s something that’s felt in the body, in relationship, and at a the pace we’re allowed to move.

At The Soulful Herd, safety grows through choice, consent, and attuned connection with ourselves, with others, and with the animals who share this space.

When safety is felt, trust follows. And from there, real change becomes possible.

This is McShaggy 🐮 one of our gentle giants here at The Soulful Herd.

He moves through his days with a calm steadiness that feels a bit like an exhale.
There’s no rush with Shaggy , unless it’s bath day and the brush comes out. Then he’s suddenly very motivated.
A quiet kind of strength, reminding us to breathe a little deeper and take life at our own pace 🧡🐮

Equine Assisted Mental Health is experiential: meaning understanding arrives through direct experience, not just discussion.

When people spend time with the herd, they’re invited to notice their own sensations, emotions, and patterns as they happen in the moment.

This lived experience supports deeper learning, self awareness, and meaningful personal growth.
