For children with food aversions, it’s important to offer breakfast options that are both appealing and nutritious while considering their sensitivities or dislikes. Here are some breakfast ideas that might help:

1️⃣ Smoothie Bowls
Blend fruits (like banana, berries, or mango) with coconut yoghurt. Top with mild toppings like chia seeds, shredded coconut, or a sprinkle of granola for texture. You can sneak in greens like spinach or kale if they are hidden well!

2️⃣ Mini Omelettes or Frittatas
Prepare small, egg-based omelettes with mild vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or even cheese if tolerated. You can also make frittatas that are cut into bite-sized pieces.

3️⃣ Nut Butter Toast
Sourdough or gluten-free toast spread with almond butter, peanut butter, or sunflower seed butter. You can top it with sliced fruit (bananas or apples) or drizzle with honey.

4️⃣ Chia Pudding
Soak chia seeds overnight in almond or coconut milk. In the morning, top with a little honey, cinnamon, or mashed fruit for a sweet touch.

5️⃣ Protein Pancakes
Make pancakes with almond flour or oats for a more nutrient-dense option. You can add protein powder or sneaky veggies like pureed zucchini or carrots into the batter.

6️⃣ Avocado Toast with a Twist
For a savoury option, top gluten-free or sourdough toast with mashed avocado and a drizzle of olive oil. Add a pinch of sea salt or nutritional yeast for extra flavour.

These options can be adjusted based on what your child will tolerate and enjoy, while still offering a variety of nutrients!

💡 5 Tips to Navigate PANS/PANDAS Diagnosis 💡

Navigating a PANS or PANDAS diagnosis can feel overwhelming, but you are not alone. Here are 5 key tips to help you and your child find the path to healing:

1️⃣ Seek Early Intervention – Don’t wait! Early action is crucial in managing symptoms effectively.

2️⃣ Understand the Root Cause – Look beyond the symptoms to identify triggers like infections, inflammation or immune dysfunction.

3️⃣ Support the Immune System – A strong immune system is essential for recovery. Prioritise nutrition, sleep, hydration and movement.

4️⃣ Explore Functional Testing – Tailored testing helps uncover what’s happening in your child’s body so we can create the right plan.

5️⃣ Be Patient and Consistent – Healing takes time, and consistency is key. Small steps add up to big changes.

Every child’s journey is unique and with the right support, progress is possible.
Being in the care of a qualified practitioner ensures your child receives accurate assessments, targeted treatments and the expert guidance needed to navigate the complexities of PANS/PANDAS effectively and safely.

Super Sneaky Berry Avocado Smoothie
Ingredients:
1/2 ripe avocado (adds creaminess and healthy fats)
1/2 cup frozen mixed berries (like blueberries, strawberries, or raspberries)
1 small banana (for natural sweetness)
1/2 cup spinach (hidden greens!)
1 cup unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk (for a mild flavour)
1 tablespoon chia seeds or flaxseeds (great for fibre and omega-3s)
1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for extra sweetness)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (adds flavour without overpowering)
Directions:
Blend the avocado, frozen berries, banana, spinach, almond milk, seeds, and vanilla together until smooth.
Taste and add a little honey or maple syrup if needed for sweetness.
Pour into a cup and watch your child enjoy a nutrient-packed treat!

Is your child suddenly showing signs of extreme behavioural or emotional changes? PANS/PANDAS can cause a rapid onset of neuropsychiatric symptoms. Here's what to look for:

⚡ Sudden Onset of OCD: Uncontrollable thoughts or repetitive behaviours.
⚡ Severe Anxiety: Intense, unexplained fears or panic attacks.
⚡ Tics: Involuntary movements or vocal sounds.
⚡ Extreme Mood Swings: Sudden irritability, anger, or emotional outbursts.
⚡ Difficulty in School: Drop in academic performance or trouble concentrating.
⚡ Sleep Disturbances: Trouble falling asleep, staying asleep or night terrors.
⚡ Motor Skill Regression: Decline in coordination or handwriting.
⚡ Sensory Sensitivities: Overreaction to light, sound, or textures.

If you notice these changes, it’s important to seek professional help. Early intervention and a holistic approach can make a huge difference in your child’s recovery.

Is your child experiencing sudden changes in behaviour, like anxiety, OCD, or tics? It could be more than just a phase, PANS/PANDAS are real, treatable conditions that stem from an overactive immune response. But there’s hope for full recovery! 💚

What Are PANS/PANDAS?
These conditions cause sudden neuropsychiatric symptoms triggered by immune dysregulation:
⚡ Triggers: Infections, environmental toxins (like mould), and stress.
⚡ Immune Response: Inflammation in the brain, especially in the basal ganglia, leads to debilitating symptoms like OCD, tics, and severe anxiety.

How We Can Help Through Naturopathic Care
✔️ Address the Root Cause: We work to identify and treat infections, reduce toxin exposure (like mould), and manage stress, all factors that fuel the condition.
✔️ Reduce Neuro-inflammation: Using natural, healing medicine to calm the immune system and support the brain’s health.
✔️ Functional Testing: We perform specialised tests to find hidden imbalances and create a personalised treatment plan that’s tailored to your child’s specific needs.

✨ With the right care, full resolution is not only possible, but highly achievable.
