Hi, I’m Nina. A little background about me, I grew up in the Illawarra and moved away in May 1989 to Tennant Creek, NT, where I had my 2 children. Since then I have lived with my children in four other states until moving back to the Illawarra in 2010 after my divorce to continue my counselling education and settle back home again. I am an active member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and have my Master's in Social Work and undergrad in Applied Social Science majoring in Counselling. I have been praised for my great sense of humour, outgoing, warm personality and down to earth therapeutic and teaching style. I love to travel, spend time with family and friends, playing games, going to the theatre, comedy, eating good food and drinking good wine.

My life’s journey has taken me down many different roads and life transitions, some have been very joyful while others have been very painful and challenging. which has resulted in my 'lived experience' with mental illness which has given me firsthand experience with the impact it has on individual's, their relationships, work performance and education achievements. My travels and different employments has given me the privileged to meet people from all different backgrounds and needs including; mental illness, homelessness, domestic violence, unemployed, divorced, death, anger issues and trauma. I have over 15 years of professional counselling experience including; schools, employment services, lifeline and headspace and my own private counselling practice.

My passion in life is to help teach people about the signs and symptoms of Mental Health. I have have been MHFA instructor since 2016 and have delivered over 30 sessions of Standard Adult Mental Health First Aid and Refresher courses which makes me a Master instructor. The more people who understand what Mental Health is, the better we can break the stigma and educate people about the importance of early intervention and with getting the right help, this will help their recovery journey.
