This was a really special Purple Day moment but it's also part of something much bigger 💜
During the recent Parliament sitting week, members of the Labor caucus wore purple pins to show their support for people living with epilepsy, helping bring visibility to a condition that impacts 1 in 25 Australians.
We were also incredibly proud to be mentioned in a parliamentary adjournment speech by Joe Kelly MP, recognising the real impact epilepsy has on individuals and families across Queensland.
While the 3 min speech did not give the opportunity to recognise all the amazing supporters of Epilepsy Queensland, we were lucky enough to have a number of our community mentioned, including The Walsh Family and Bowling for Millie, whose extraordinary efforts continue to raise both funds and awareness for epilepsy.
Right now, we are seeing more people talking about epilepsy than ever before. From growing media attention, to the announcement of a Senate Inquiry into epilepsy, these conversations are building momentum.
And that matters, because awareness leads to understanding, understanding leads to change, and change means better support for the thousands of Queenslanders living with epilepsy every day.
To everyone sharing their story, showing up, fundraising and advocating, this moment belongs to you too 💜
