The holiday season can bring lots of joy but also challenges, and with all the festivities, it’s common to see a rise in accidents and seasonal illnesses.

The South Brisbane Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is here to care for the community every day over the holidays. We care for those who need urgent medical care when it can’t wait for a regular GP appointment but doesn’t require a trip to the hospital.

We are a bulk-billed, walk-in service, staffed by GPs and nurses, open from 8am to 10 pm every day.

We also understand that the holiday season can heighten personal and mental health challenges. While our GPs are here for you and can assess your mental health and refer you to services, if you're experiencing a mental health crisis or emergency that needs immediate support, we kindly encourage you to instead access specialized care directly. Some options may include calling a mental health triage service such as 1300 MH CALL (1300 642 255) for confidential advice and support if you’re unsure of where to go, visiting the emergency room, or calling a mental health hotline.

We wish everyone a safe holiday season.

Federal representatives, including Senator Murray Watt and Labor candidate Renee Coffey, recently toured our South Brisbane Medicare Urgent Care Clinic as it approaches its one-year milestone!

By offering free walk-in care for non-life-threatening conditions 7 days a week, with nearly 10,000 visits since opening, our clinic is making it easier for the community to access urgent medical care, by not having to wait in an emergency department or for a GP appointment.

The South Brisbane Medicare Urgent Care Clinic also provides patient discharge summaries and referrals back to GPs for ongoing management, fostering a more integrated primary care network.

“The success of our Medicare UCCs demonstrates the value of having local insights into community needs when commissioning and co-designing healthcare solutions to respond to those needs,” said Mike Bosel, CEO of Brisbane South PHN.
