Essential oils provide us with a fragrant pharmacy full of remedies and delights for all aspects of our lives. Essential oils are extracted from certain varieties of trees, shrubs, herbs, grasses, roots, fruits and flowers. The oil is concentrated in different parts of the plant. Each oil has its own medicinal and other properties. They are antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antineuralgic, antitoxic, sadative, digestive, restorative, analgesic, carminative, circulatory, diuretic, and much more! Today’s blend is happiness and we absolutely love it ❤️

In a 10ml glass bottle, drop in 19 drops of orange, 5 drops of rose, 5 drops of jasmine & 1 drop of clove bud. Dilute with your favourite carrier oil(we love fractionated coconut oil!). Give it shake and roll on your temples, wrists and inhale deeply and choose to be happy 🤸🏻‍♀️

A new start. This is a good time to make plans or begin something new. Journal your intentions for what you want to create in your life. Imagine rebirth.

🌗First quarter moon
A time of growth and plan ahead. Work towards your intentions. This may require perseverance, commitment and concentration.

🌖Waxing moon
A time to build up and to strengthen. You are in turn with yourself, grow and everything is absorbed better.

🌕Full moon
Everything reaches its peak, everything is “full”. Our feelings are strong (in positive and negative), a sense of restlessness hangs in the air and some may suffer from insomnia.

🌗Last Quarter moon
A time to be grateful for the intentions that have become reality. This is the time to transform and let go of things that no longer serves you.

🌔Waning Moon
Calm. Time to cleanse and let go. Time for some decluttering, of mind and things.

Sunday arvo reading with Yoga Sutra, reminding ourselves once again why we do yoga. When the word yoga is mentioned, most people immediately think of it as some physical practices for stretching and stress reduction. This is only one aspect of the yogic science, actually a very small part of it. Hatha Yoga was primarily designed to facilitate the real practice of Yoga - namely, the understanding and complete mastery over the mind. So the actual meaning of Yoga is the “science of the mind.”

One of our fav except from the sutra;
“As the mind, so the person; bo***ge or liberation are in your mind. If you feel bound, you are bound. If you feel liberated, you are liberated. Things outside neither bind nor liberate you; only your attitude toward them does that.” - Yoga Sutra

One of our favourite mudra in yoga.
The “Let Go” mudra. Also known as Uttara-bodhi, the Buddhist seal of spiritual enlightenment, this mudra assists you in letting go of any feelings of stress and negativity, helping you toward a state of pure joy.

Hold this mudra for 3–5 minutes daily, you will begin to sense a subtle energy shift similar to the joyful freedom you experience when you spend time in nature. On a physical level, Kshepana Mudra improves your breathing by enhancing exhalation, increasing your ability to shed anything you and your body no longer need. It can be a useful means of releasing stress before a daunting or difficult task.

We like to do this mudra when in Hastauttanasana (Raised Arms pose) and in Virabhadrasana (Warrior I)

Recent research has brought insight into how we induce the “natural high” from working into the pharmacy within our brains.  The most interesting take from experiments was that many of the processes were relatable to the activities we see in yoga and meditation.

Which, by and by means that we are able to induce the natural high of the endocannabinoid system by practicing asana, pranayama, chanting, and meditation.

When you practice yoga with good breathing techniques, you will start to essentially feel “high” in what is believed to be an increase in endocannabinoid receptors and one of their agonists (activators) AEA. This flooding of AEA in the body gives a blissful feeling to the person practicing yoga.
