I've had the wisest, most loving teachers over the years and they've had differing views on pain in healing.
But my philosophy, developed through working with women's bodies and a long career in Nursing, is that I can't help you if I hurt you.
Working within the pelvis requires deep trust, safety and consent. If your body feels hurt by me, its likely response will be to say 'no' to care, to create tension and to shut down.
Discomfort? Yes. Intensity? Sometimes. Uncertainty? We can work with that.
But hurt? Never. Being hurt by a care provider is a combination of physical pain, emotional distrust and your nervous system shifting into protective mode. In that state, you are likely to create rather than relieve tension.
If you've had a bad experience with another care provider who had a different approach to me, I'm sorry. If your body craves therapeutic touch that intentionally doesn't hurt you and instead listens, respects and engages with you, DM me or head to the website for details on how we can work together.
