International Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering (CMBEBIH) is a bi-annual event organized by Bosnia and Herzegovina's Society for Medical and Biological Engineering, in partnership with international bodies and local partners. We bring together leading researchers, scientists, engineers and scholars, along with amazing keynote speakers we invite, to create the platform for discussion on latest researches, innovative solutions and emerging challenges this field is facing with, in order to improve quality of healthcare and life in general. 🎓 How do we prepare students for a world that is changing faster than ever?

At the education panel, organized in cooperation with the Institute for the Development of Pre-University Education, we discussed:
🔹 introducing digital and STEM competences in schools
🔹 strengthening teachers’ capacities
🔹 linking education with labor market needs
🔹 the importance of interdisciplinary learning

The message is clear: if we want a society that innovates and develops, education must be the foundation – not an obstacle.

NextGov @ CMBEBIH 2025

As an official program within the international CMBEBIH 2025 conference, NextGov provided a platform for public institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina to present concrete digital solutions, reforms, and upcoming initiatives.

Through high-level panels and discussions, the program addressed:
🔹 Digital taxation and e-signatures
🔹 E-government as a shared services hub
🔹 Legal, security, and practical aspects of digital signatures
🔹 AI, data exchange, and cybersecurity in public administration

🚀 EuroCC4SEE Workshop @ CMBEBIH 2025

🌐As part of CMBEBIH 2025, NCC HPC BiH hosted a strategic workshop with NCCs from Montenegro and Serbia, alongside representatives of the public sector, to explore how HPC, AI, and HPDA can enhance efficiency, transparency, and evidence-based decision-making in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

🗣️The discussions highlighted practical applications in data-driven healthcare, supporting early diagnoses and personalized treatments, and energy management, where simulations and digital twins can optimize resource use and sustainability. Public sector participants actively engaged, showing strong interest in successful European examples and EuroCC training programs.

💡The workshop emphasized the importance of building institutional capacity, regulatory frameworks, and inter-sectoral cooperation to systematically adopt advanced digital technologies. By facilitating this dialogue, NCC HPC BiH demonstrated its role as a catalyst for digital transformation in governance, helping public institutions deliver smarter, more responsive, and sustainable services.

OncoTrack Hackathon 2025: 48 Hours of Ideas, Code, and Team Spirit

48 hours, 10 teams, countless ideas and innovations.

During the OncoTrack Hackathon, we witnessed how real healthcare challenges can be solved through technology – from the initial idea, through code development, all the way to a functional prototype. The atmosphere was filled with teamwork, creativity, and innovation.
The participants demonstrated exceptional dedication and energy, and their solutions have the potential to improve healthcare services in the region as early as tomorrow.

🏆 Winners of the OncoTrack Hackathon 2025:
First place: Veritas (Hungary)
Second place: MedWire (Bosnia and Herzegovina)
Third place: Code4Care (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

These achievements clearly show that the region has a strong base of young innovators ready to tackle global healthcare challenges through digital solutions.

The OncoTrack Hackathon was organized by Verlab Research Institute and the Bosnia and Herzegovina Medical and Biological Engineering Society, with the support of EIT Health (co-funded by the European Union), EAMBES (European Alliance for Medical and Biological Engineering and Science), and IFMBE (International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering).

Academic partners included University Metropolitan Tirana and University of Debrecen, while Spicy Analytics, Verlab d.o.o., and InterSystems provided industrial expertise and support.
