Pap smears are important screening tests used to help prevent cervical cancer. During a pap smear, cells are collected from the cervix. These cells are later examined looking for abnormal cells or precancerous changes, which if left untreated may lead to cervical cancer.
Screening for cervical cancer usually starts at age 21 using a pap smear. From age 30 onwards, screening may involve pap smears alone or in combination with HPV (Human papilloma virus) testing. This is referred to as cotesting.

Talk to your doctor about cervical cancer screening and encourage other women to do the same. Let's .
