The IAPB celebrates World Sight Day OCTOBER 9th , 2025. A global call to action to bring awareness and advocate for accessible & affordable eyecare to ALL. This year the theme is “every story counts “ , an aim to put people and their personal eyecare experiences at the heart of the discussion to influence policy makers to prioritize eye health.
The Optical Association of Barbados invites All members of the public for FREE Eye Health screening at participating registered Opticianrys in your area. Comprehensive screenings will be performed by registered qualified Optometrists to bring awareness of the importance of routine eye exams . Routine eye exams save sight as MOST serious eye problems have NO symptoms. The eyes will be screened for refractive errors , glaucoma , cataract and diabetic retinopathy . If you are diabetic with a history of glaucoma in the family and myopic you are considered high risk for glaucoma . All children MUST be tested before age 6 to PREVENT amblyopia . LOVE YOUR EYES .
