**World Mental Health Day 2025 Observed****Theme:** *Access to Services: Mental Health in Disasters and Emergencies***Chattogram, October 10, 2025:**On the occasion of World Mental Health Day 2025, a discussion meeting was held at the Chattogram Zila Parishad Auditorium, jointly organized by the Department of Public Health, University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC), and the Department of Narcotics Control. This year’s theme was *“Access to Services: Mental Health in Disasters and Emergencies.”*The program was inaugurated by **Professor Dr. Mohammad Solaiman**, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC).The event was chaired by **Professor Dr. Mohammad Shafiul Hasan**, Head of the Department of Psychiatry, Institute of Applied Health Sciences (IAHS).The **Chief Guest** of the program was renowned physician and social worker **Dr. Shahadat Hossain**, Honorable Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation.**Special Guests** included **Dr. Fazle Rabbi**, Director of Health, Chattogram Division, and **Shahzada Syed Irfanul Haque**, Managing Trustee of Darul Irfan Research Institute.The **welcome address** was delivered by **Professor Pranay Kumar Majumder**, Head of the Department of Public Health, USTC.The **keynote paper** was presented by **Dr. Subhra Prakash Datta**, Assistant Professor, Department of Public Health, USTC.A **felicitation speech** was delivered by **Dr. Belayet Hossain Dhali**, Assistant Professor, Department of Pediatric Medicine, Chattogram Medical College.In his speech, the Chief Guest, the Honorable Mayor, emphasized that expanding mental health services across all levels of society and the state is essential for building a healthy and prosperous nation.Speakers at the event further highlighted that mental health is no longer a neglected issue—especially during disasters and emergencies, maintaining mental stability is crucial. They stressed that timely support and increased awareness are the keys to ensuring mental well-being.**Professor Dr. Mohammad Shafiul Hasan**, an eminent psychiatrist, discussed the symptoms, types, and remedies of various mental health disorders.The program was attended by physicians, teachers, students, and people from different walks of society.The event received overall support from **Renata Pharmaceuticals Limited (Renata PLC)** as the *Scientific Partner.*
