May 12 – International Nurses Day
Today, we celebrate the heartbeat of healthcare — nurses.

From night shifts to code blues, from holding hands to healing hearts, nurses show up with unmatched courage, skill, and compassion.
You are not "just a nurse" — you are the calm in chaos, the strength in crisis, and the soul of the system.

Thank you for choosing this path, every single day.

With endless gratitude,
Nurshochondria

IV Fluid is very important for nursing students.

IV fluid: Intravenous/parenteral

Now the question is why give fluid (saline)?

----> First of all, if the patient can take enough orally, then there is no need to give IV fluid

----> For some reason, the patient's fluid volume decreases and becomes dehydrated (dehydration) IV. Fluid (saline) is given.
There are many reasons for this. Don't go there.

Let's take a look at what types of IV saline are available in the market.

1) NS (Normal Saline):

----> What et?
0.9 % Nacl + DW (Distillwater) is Normal Saline
ie 100ml DW will contain 0.9 mg Nacl or salt. In Bengali, salt is water
How much salt will there be in 500ml?
I hope you understand

---> Packet color.?
yellow

---> Why give.?

* If Fluid Volume is low
* If there is Hypotension (decrease in blood pressure) (Nacl incresae the BP)
There are many, I will not enlarge.

2).CS(Cholera Saline)

--->What's in it?
★Na+ : 3g/L
★Cl - : 3.5g/L
★K+ :0.5g/L
Acetate: 2.5 g/L

--->Packet color
the red

----> Why give.?

Usually for Dehydration correction

3) 5%DA (Dextrose in Aqua) Dextrose means "Glucose" Aqua means "Water"
5% DA means 5g glucose in 100ml water.

Note : 10%DA, 25%DA 50%DA is just the difference in concentration of glucose with water.

----> Packet color

Its blue bag

---> Why give??
Patients who cannot eat enough.
As Parental Nutrition.
In general, if there is no food in the mouth.

4) 5%DNS (Dextrose in Normal Saline) i.e. Normal Saline + glucose
How much do you understand?

---> What is the color of the packet?

Green bag

---> why give.?
See NS+ 5%DA

5) HS (Hartman's Solution)

----> What is it.?
It is named after a scientist.
Combination:
NaOH : 1.5g/L
NaCl : 6.0g/L
KCL. : 0.40g/L
Cacl2 : 0.27g/L
Lactid Acid : 2.40ml

----> The color of the packet?
There is no specific

---> Why give?

Volume maintain
Dehydration
Burn

Apart from these, some nutritional, plasma fluid, essential amino acid are available in the market (Clinosol / clinosol gold)
