Did you know that blood cannot be manufactured in a lab? It can only come from human donors.

Every bag of blood used in a hospital — whether for surgery, accident victims, or patients with conditions like thalassemia — comes from a voluntary donor who chose to give.

Donating blood takes about 8–10 minutes. The process is safe, and your body replenishes the donated blood within a few weeks.

Did you know that donated blood can only be stored for a limited time? Red blood cells can be kept for up to 42 days, platelets for just 5–7 days. This means blood banks always need a steady supply of fresh donations. Waiting until there is a shortage is too late — regular donors are what keep the supply stable and lives protected.

Did you know that O negative blood is called the "universal donor"?

O negative red blood cells can be given to patients of any blood group in an emergency — making it one of the most critical blood types to have in stock.

If you have O negative blood, your donation is especially valuable. But every blood type is needed. Regular donors of all groups help ensure no patient is left without blood when it matters most.

Know your blood type. Donate when you can. Be someone's lifeline.

How often can you donate blood?

If you’ve donated blood before, you might remember being told to wait before donating again. That gap is very important as it allows your body to rebuild red blood cells and restore iron levels properly.

As a general guideline:
- Men can donate every: 8 weeks (56 days)*
- Women can donate every: 12 weeks (84 days)*

*That said, not everyone is always eligible to donate! Your overall health, recent illnesses, medications, and other factors can affect whether it’s safe for you to donate at a given time.

When in doubt, it’s always best to follow the guidance of a doctor or the donation center.

If it’s been a while since your last donation, this might be a good time to check — you may already be eligible again. And, if you’re open to donating when needed, you can register with us below:

At some point, most of us have seen a post — someone urgently looking for blood for a family member or friend. Sometimes those posts get the right response quickly. Sometimes they don’t.

We’ve set up this page to try and make that process a little more reliable and secure for both donors and requesters.

The idea is simple: if someone needs blood (requester), they can post the details here (e.g., hospital, blood type, contact number). On our end, we privately share contacts of people who have already said they’re willing to donate, with the requester. From there, everything is coordinated directly between the two parties.

If you’re someone who’s open to donating, even occasionally, you can register with us. You’ll only be contacted by requesters, and it’s always your choice to respond/donate.

We’re keeping things simple for now, and we’ll improve as we go.

If you’d like to join us as a donor🩸, you can sign up below -- or simply keep an eye out on our page for people who need blood:

This form will only be used to collect your information. When someone will need your blood type, you will probably be contacted by them for help. You may or may not help the person, as per your discretion – no pressure shall ever be given. If you ever face any issues while meeting someone for bloo...
