🌟 Nagorikata Expansion Celebration Ceremony | 🌟
As part of the Nagorikata: Civic Engagement Fund (CEF) partnership event, a focused presentation session was conducted under the GUIDANCE Project, implemented by Naria Unnayan Samity (NUSA), highlighting E – “Youth & Digital Civic Action.”
The presentation emphasized the growing role of youth leadership, digital platforms, and technology-driven civic engagement in promoting accountability, inclusion, and democratic participation in Shariatpur at 3 upazila.

Ms. Majeda Shawkat Ali, Executive Director, Naria Unnayan Samity (NUSA)
Mr. Zobair Hasan, Deputy Executive Director, Development Organisation of the Rural Poor (DORP)
Mr. Yakub Hossain, Executive Director, Village Education and Resource Center (VERC)
The session shared insights on engaging young people through digital tools, strengthening media literacy, promoting responsible online civic action, and connecting grassroots initiatives with national-level civic processes—fully aligned with the vision of Nagorikata and SDG 5 & SDG 16.

আজ ১৭ ডিসেম্বর ২০২৫- জাজিরা উপজেলায় GUIDANCE Project (NUSA–DORP–VERC) এর আওতায় Activity 4.1: Roundtable discussions involving government agencies and CSOs বাস্তবায়নের অংশ হিসেবে বাল্যবিবাহ প্রতিরোধ শীর্ষক যৌথ গোলটেবিল বৈঠক অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে।
সরকারি দপ্তর, স্থানীয় সরকার, সিএসও, বাল্য বিবাহের শিকারে বা ভিক্টিম তাদের অভিজ্ঞতা শেয়ার করেন। আলোচনায় অনেক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ তথ্যের মধ্যে সরকারী প্রতিনিধি ও CSO রা একসাথে কিভাবে কাজ করতে পারবেন তা নিয়ে মূল্যবান বক্তব্য দেন। প্রতিনিধিদের অংশগ্রহণে আমরা জাজিরার বর্তমান পরিস্থিতি, ঝুঁকি ও প্রতিরোধ কৌশল নিয়ে গভীর আলোচনা করেছি।

🇧🇩 মহান স্বাধীনতা দিবস উপলক্ষে 🇧🇩
আজ মহান স্বাধীনতা দিবস উপলক্ষে নড়িয়া উন্নয়ন সমিতির প্রতিষ্ঠাতা, জাতীয় বীর কর্নেল শওকত আলী–এর সমাধিস্থলে গভীর শ্রদ্ধা ও ভালোবাসার সঙ্গে পুষ্পস্তবক অর্পণ ও দোয়া মাহফিল অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে।

এই দিনে তাঁর আত্মত্যাগ, দেশপ্রেম ও মানবকল্যাণমূলক আদর্শ গভীর শ্রদ্ধার সঙ্গে স্মরণ করছি।

Today we held a Coordination Meeting to review the progress of the GUIDANCE project. The discussion focused on implemented activities, current challenges, and the next steps to strengthen project outcomes.

The meeting was attended by the GUIDANCE Project Team, NUSA’s Executive Director Madam Majeda Shawkat Ali, and consortium members from VERC and DORP. Their insights and collaboration are helping us advance toward more effective and community-centered project delivery.

Together, we remain committed to achieving meaningful and sustainable results.

As part of our ongoing work under Activity 4.4, we joined the national launch of the 2025 Global 16 Days of Activism, where Bangladesh called to “UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls.”

According to the Violence Against Women Survey 2024,
8.3% of women in Bangladesh have faced technology-facilitated violence — and the rate climbs to 16% for young women aged 20–24.
This rise in digital risks highlights the urgent need for collective action.

During the campaign launch, government officials, Union Parishad Chairman & members, GUIDANCE Project team, Local woman groups, civil society Organization (CSO), School Teacher, youth leaders, and tech regulators united to address the growing threats of online harassment, cyberstalking, deepfake misuse, and gendered disinformation.

Key commitments were emphasized:
🔸 Strengthening laws and enforcement
🔸 Ensuring survivor-centred reporting and support
🔸 Holding technology platforms accountable
🔸 Expanding digital literacy and positive online norms
🔸 Coordinated national action to prevent online harm
🔸 Accessible protection and services for survivors

Under the Nagorikata programme, we continue aligning our advocacy efforts to promote inclusive, safe, and rights-based digital spaces for women and girls.

Nagorikata Baseline Study Co-Design Workshop
Today we joined an engaging and collaborative workshop at Six Seasons Hotel, Gulshan, where teams worked together to refine baseline indicators for the Nagorikata programme.

NUSA’s Joint Director Mr. Md. Kabir Hossain, GUIDANCE Project Manager Ms. Sajia Mridha, and MEAL Officer Abdullah Al Wasee actively contributed to group discussions on logframe indicators, contextualisation, and qualitative tools. Their insights added great value to today’s sessions.

With the support of our development partners, we continue working together to strengthen civic engagement and community-focused outcomes.
