Homeopathy: How is Treatment Administered? What are the steps?
Assalamu Alaikum! Welcome to our social media page and channel.
Many people think that Homoeopathy simply means taking 'white pills/tablets'. However, it is in fact a complete, scientific, and logical system of medicine with a specific methodology.
In this video, we will see how a comprehensive Homoeopathic treatment service is carried out, and through what coherent steps it is completed. Let's begin.
Step 1: Case Taking - Getting to Know the Patient Completely
The first step is the most important, and this is what makes homeopathy unique. This step is called 'Case Taking'. Here, not only is the name of the disease is known, but the patient is completely understood.
This is an in-depth interview where, alongside physical symptoms, the patient's mind, emotions, sleep, dietary habits, and complete details are recorded.
In this step, the following are observed:
• Physical symptoms: Description of the patient's symptoms, when they started, how they started, sensations, effects of heat and cold.
• Mental state: Thoughts, worries, fears, nightmares, anxiety.
• Physical examination and investigation.
• Lifestyle: Dietary habits, sleep, daily routine.
• Medical history: Previous health, family history.
Why so detailed?
Because the fundamental principle of Homoeopathy is 'Like Cures Like' - what can cause your symptoms can also cure you. To achieve this goal, this deep investigation is conducted to find the patient's uniqueness.
Step 2: Diagnosis and Identification of Key Symptoms
The next step is diagnosis and identifying the main symptoms. In Homoeopathy, each patient is seen as a unique profile.
In this step, the patient's medical reports and all documents are analyzed. The patient's physical and mental symptoms (the totality of symptoms) are used to determine the disease and diagnosis.
If necessary, more information is collected from the patient. Here, it is seen which symptoms are the most important and dominant.
Step 3: Repertorization - Analysis
Now comes the step of 'Repertorization' or analysis. Homeopathic repertorization is an auxiliary method for finding the most suitable medicine by matching the patient's symptoms.
From all the symptoms, the most personal, persistent, rare, uncommon, and peculiar symptoms are selected - those that differentiate the patient from others.
In this process, the symptoms are graded according to their relevance to medicines — Grade 1 (mild), Grade 2 (moderate), Grade 3 or 4 (very important).
The 'Homoeopathic Repertory' technique is used manually, or in modern methods, now being used as digital repertories or softwares. When the symptoms are input, a shortlist of possible Homoeopathic medicines for the case is generated from a vast database.
The medicine that has the most and highest-graded matching symptoms is evaluated first.
For example: If a patient's fever feels better with cold water while others feel better with warmth - this is a 'peculiar' symptom which helps in selecting the correct medicine.
Step 4: Medicine Selection - Finding the Simillimum
In the fourth step, the 'Simillimum' is sought - the most suitable medicine for the patient.
With the combined use of the physician's personal Homoeopathic knowledge and Homoeopathic repertory, each medicine on the shortlist is studied in depth.
Each medicine's 'Materia Medica' or Homoeopathic Pharmacology/Clinical medicine characteristics (the complete profile of the medicine) is analyzed.
The doctor matches the picture of the patient's symptoms with the profiles of these medicines. Which medicine's 'character' perfectly matches the picture of the patient's symptoms?
The medicine that matches most is determined as the "Simillimum" for the patient – meaning, the most appropriate medicine. This is equivalent to 'tailor-made' treatment for the patient.
Step 5: Prescription, Dosing, and Medicine Dispensing
In this step, the dosing of the medicine and patient management are determined - in Homoeopathy, a single medicine and very small doses are used in most cases.
Then comes the 'Medication' process: the selected medicine is medicated and prepared for the patient. Finally, the medicine is dispensed. Along with this, the prescription process is completed.
This is a scientific and unique process of Homoeopathy.
Step 6: Follow-up - Subsequent Observation
Giving the medicine does not mean the end of treatment, but rather the beginning of a new journey. In the sixth step, the doctor takes regular follow-ups.
In this step, it is observed:
In what order are the patient's symptoms resolving?
Is any new energy appearing in the vital force?
What is the body's reaction?
Based on this observation, the doctor decides – whether to give the medicine again, change the potency, or give a new medicine.
This step ensures that the treatment is working from a deeper to the deepest level and is not just suppressing symptoms, but bringing about restoring permanent health.
In modern systems, digital follow-up tools can now be used, which help track the patient's progress. This follow-up process is followed until the patient is completely cured.
Conclusion:
However, it is important to receive treatment under the supervision of a qualified, registered Homoeopathic doctor.
It should be remembered that, Homoeopathic treatment is individualized. Even for the same disease, the medicine can be different for different people. In emergencies, acute infections, conditions requiring surgery, or serious illnesses, do not rely solely on homoeopathy; consult a specialist doctor.
