📌 How colour affects us : The Psychology Behind Colors and Their Impact on Mood and Behavior.
Colours are more than just a visual experience, they have the power to influence our emotions ,thoughts and behaviour.
This field, known as color psychology, studies how different colors impact human psychology and decision-making. From marketing to interior design, understanding the psychology of colors can help us create environments that promote well-being, creativity, and productivity.
🔎 How Colors Affect Us
Colors stimulate the brain through the visual system.
They can influence mood, energy levels, decision-making, and even physiological responses (like heart rate or appetite).
Color meanings are shaped by both biology (universal responses) and culture (learned associations).
📍 Impact of colors
🟥 Red
Increases energy, passion, alertness. Can raise heart rate, create a sense of urgency. Often used in sales ("SALE" signs) or warnings. Can also trigger aggression in some contexts.
🟧 Orange
Warm, enthusiastic, playful. Encourages social interaction and appetite. Used in marketing to grab attention and create a friendly vibe.
🟨 Yellow
Optimism, cheerfulness, mental stimulation. Can boost creativity and energy, but in excess may cause anxiety. Common in children’s products and learning spaces.
🟩 Green
Balance, harmony, relaxation. Reduces stress, improves focus, associated with nature and healing. Hospitals and therapy rooms often use green.
🟦 Blue
Calm, trust, security. Slows breathing and heart rate, promotes concentration. Used by banks/tech companies to symbolize reliability.
🟪 Purple
Spirituality, creativity, luxury. Inspires imagination, can feel mysterious. Associated with meditation, healing, or luxury products.
⬛️ Black
Power, sophistication, control but also mourning. Can create authority but may feel heavy or oppressive.
⬜️ White
Purity,simplicity,peace. Encourages clarity but in excess may feel cold or sterile.
