For best results….

I feel like cardio always gets a bad rap. But truthfully, we all need both cardio and strength training for optimal results.

Weight training helps build strong bones and muscles and has so many other benefits. But cardio builds your cardiovascular muscles (heart and lungs), improves blood circulation and has great benefits too!

So, long and short, do both (and any kind of cardio is fine - walking, running, aerobics etc.. all fine!). You’ll be fitter all round.

Hey everyone! Happy New Month!

This may be a little late for some but I thought I’d share my pick me up challenge with you guys. I’ve been slacking in so many areas and I just need something to help me get back on track with maintaining the healthy habits I’ve built over time.

The challenge is simple, doable and works for everyone - beginners, intermediate and advanced fitness enthusiasts and regardless of what your overarching fitness goal is, this challenge is just to help you build or maintain healthy habits for at least 31 days. At the end of it, I’m hoping that these simple habits stick and remain with us at least 80% of the time.

Like I said it’s simple and doable for everyone so if you need a “pick me up” challenge, this is it!

Happy New Year once again!
I hope the year started well for you?

Soooo, let’s talk about NY resolutions! People say they don’t work and we should throw them away… okay! But I beg to differ and I made one anyway 😬

I think most NY resolutions don’t work because they are not specific enough, they are unrealistic and/or there’s no plan to follow through. For instance, if your NY resolution is to “lose weight” or lose 20kg by February 🫣😩 it’s already dead on arrival! The first is not specific enough and the second is unrealistic! A better plan would look like this: “lose 20kg by May by ……….” This is more likely to work because it is specific, realistic and you can actually measure your progress and all.

So, if you have made new year resolutions, today is a good time to look at them and check to see if they are actually specific enough, they are realistic and you have a plan to achieve them.

My new resolution is to be more intentional about my life and yes that’s broad broad but I also have specific areas to work on and specific goals under each of these which I will use to measure them. Not sure why I went SDG style but yea 😅 E.g. one area is health and under that, my goal is to drink at least 2.5-3.5 liters of water everyday and eat fruits and/or vegetables everyday. Make sense?

So, anyway, if you’ve made new year resolutions, please share them with me. I’d love to hear what they are!

Happy New Month guys!

I just joined the Basic Fit team as a PT and I’m super scared 😅 but super grateful! Scared because this is a whole different setting for me but grateful because I get to do what I truly love and have been doing for over 8 years! I really want to thank everyone who is still following me, encouraging me and being supportive in their way. I am grateful because I haven’t added value lately and yet you’ve remained. The last 2+ years has been an interesting journey and I’ll definitely tell it all at some point. But for now, thank you. I mean it really. Thank you.

I felt I was ready to be Uzo The Gym Addict again a couple of months ago but fear happened. I feel like I’m ready now but I also feel overwhelmed and still afraid. I’ll just take this one step at a time. Please bear with me. I trust that everything will be okay.
