The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is an evidence-based listening therapy designed to reduce sound sensitivities and improve auditory processing, behavioral state regulation, and social engagement behaviors through filtered music.
As a practical application of Polyvagal Theory, the SSP acts as a non-invasive, acoustic vagal nerve stimulator, helping to re-tune the nervous system to better support connection, collaboration and resilience.
The SSP involves listening to specially filtered music through headphones alongside a provider, in-person or remotely. Suitable for children and adults, the SSP has demonstrated benefits for individuals with trauma, anxiety, sensory processing differences and
more.

Safe and Sound Protocol - c'est quoi et à quoi ca sert ?
Le protocol SSP est un programme d'écoute de stimulations auditives modulées (présentées sous forme de musique) déstiné a rééquilibrer le système nerveux.
Le programme comprend trois outils de musique neuromodulée de 5 hrs chacun. Cette musique permet d'appaiser et de réeduquer un système nerveux hyperactivé, et de permettre à la personne écoutante de retrouver un sentiment de sécurité, un état de calme et de disponibilité au changement.

A recent article published in the Harvard Review of Psychiatry tells the story of a ten year old girl with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). Participation in the Safe and Sound Protocol enabled her capacity for communication, social interaction and physical movement to improve drastically, allowing a return to play, climbing and walking. Assessment for anxiety, depression and stress showed a return to "normal" values, marking a considerable improvement from presence of suicidal ideation before use of the protocol. Benefits and general well-being were retained as reported in the 18 month follow-up interview.

Une récente publication du Harvard Review of Psychiatry raconte la situation d'une jeune patiente présentant un trouble fonctionnel neurologique. Après utilisation du protocole Safe and Sound cette jeune fille a pu retrouver la marche et le jeu. L'anxiété, la dépression et le stress qu'elle éprouvait ont diminués avec un retour à la "normale". Les entretiens de suivi à six mois et un an ont confirmé ces améliorations et le sentiment de bien-être de la jeune fille.
