🌍 Philately as a Platform for Cooperation, Culture and the Future
On 15–16 April, PostEurop, in close cooperation with Azərpoçt LLC (AZCON Holding), held the Stamps & Philately Working Group meeting in Baku, bringing together European postal operators, partners from UPU & WADP, as well as the Postcrossing community, collectors and enthusiasts.
Key discussions focused on:
·✉️ the evolving role of postage stamps in a digital age
·🤝 strengthening international cooperation
·🎓 engaging younger generations with philately
A highlight of the programme was the celebration of 70 years of EUROPA stamps, including the cancellation ceremony of the anniversary issue and the presentation of the winning 2026 design by Posti Group Oyj (Finland).
Day 2 focused on strategic and future‑oriented initiatives, including the Stamp 2027 guidelines, insights on reversing declining trends in philately, results of the Philately Trends Survey, updates from Universal Postal Union/WADP, first concepts for upcoming initiatives and the announcement of the EUROPA Stamp 2028 theme voting results, complemented by outreach visits in .
From traditional stamps to innovation — including digital formats — and from cultural heritage to people‑to‑people connections, the meeting once again demonstrated that philately remains a powerful medium for shared values and creativity across Europe.
By hosting and actively contributing to international initiatives, Azerpost is strengthening Azerbaijan’s voice within the global postal and philatelic community and helping to shape the future of the sector — presenting philately not as a legacy of the past, but as a dynamic platform for education, creativity and meaningful connection across generations and borders.
Looking ahead, PostEurop is pleased to return to Baku in October for the PostEurop General Assembly, continuing this strong spirit of collaboration.
