“Love conquers every obstacle.” 💙
Today, on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the European Academy of Paediatrics (EAP) celebrates the unique strength and spirit of every child.
Disability is not a barrier to happiness, friendship, or a bright future. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that every child—regardless of ability—is seen, heard, and given the opportunity to thrive.
Let’s build a world where barriers are broken down by understanding, inclusion, and love. Together, we can pave the way for a more accessible future. 🌍

may come to a close, but is not.
It is a reminder that is not a distant risk. It is already shaping how we care for children today. Drug-resistant infections make routine illnesses harder to treat and increase the chance of complications. Families feel this through longer hospital stays, repeated consultations and fewer effective options.

As European paediatricians, we see what works.
– prevent infections through vaccination, hygiene and reliable primary care
– use antibiotics only when they are truly needed, in the correct dose and for the right duration
– strengthen antimicrobial stewardship in hospitals and community care
– support surveillance and research that include children

This year’s message is clear: Protect our present, secure our future.
Protecting children today means safeguarding the effectiveness of antimicrobials for the next generation. https://eapaediatrics.eu/choose-wisely/
Pediatrics is prevention, and every safe and evidence-based prescription and every avoided infection helps keep antibiotics working.

Across Europe and worldwide, children still face avoidable risks: violence, displacement, barriers to healthcare and limited opportunities to be heard. Paediatricians work at this intersection every day.

At the European Academy of Paediatrics we advocate for stronger protection systems, equitable access to care and national policies that reflect children’s real needs.
Together with strong partners like UNICEF and World Health Organization (WHO) we support colleagues and communities working to keep children safe and healthy.

Join our on child and adolescent safety tonight at 18:00 CET, sharing practical examples from frontline and community work and see in Action!
