Jessica has been a student of yoga since 2015 and trained to teach in 2018 at Café Yoga in São Paulo, Brazil, where she then worked as a full-time yoga teacher as well as working with victims of domestic violence, those who are HIV positive, the elderly, and delivering yoga for athletes, providing her with a broad range of experience. Since then, Jessica has been deepening her studies and practice
of yoga in all of its aspects, including studying its roots in classical yoga, where her deep interest and inspiration comes from. For Jessica, even though the physical practice - asanas - of yoga is proven to bring physical and mental health benefits (she is truly happy to instruct her students in this way), she takes a more holistic approach and sees yoga as a way to work on and transform one's self not only physically but also mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. This wider and deeper view is informed by the ethical disciplines that underpin all classical yoga traditions, which bring integrity to our lives and form the foundation for the physical practice of asanas, the breath practice of pranayama, and the meditative practice towards samadhi. Jessica is most inspired in her study and practice of yoga by the work of Swami Sivananda Saraswati and his disciples, namely Swami Satyananda Saraswati and Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati, and continues her studies through the Living Yoga Project, London. Jessica also has a connection to Buddhism and took Refuge under the direction of Ringu Tulku Rinpoche in 2019 She also has a growing interest in the secular applications of mindfulness for mental well-being and the body-mind connection. As a scientist, studying for her PhD in Geology, Jessica appreciates the inner-scientific approach of yoga and teaches in a grounded way. Jessica's students greatly enjoy the calm, attentive, and caring holding space she provides in her yoga classes and always feel more grounded, nourished, and centred after practicing with her. If you would like to find out more about joining a group class or one-to-one classes with Jessica, then we would be happy to hear from you.
