After graduating as an equine veterinarian in Spain in 2013, Julia has been working in general equine practice ever since. Driven by a continuous desire to learn and develop further, she joined Bosdreef for an internship. She is especially interested in internal medicine, emergency care, and anaesthesia.

🐎 Objective gait analysis

Dr. Sofie Van de Velde performing a Qualisys analysis in our arena. This motion capture system uses markers, (placed on the horse’s head, withers and haunches) and high-speed cameras to objectively measure a horse’s movement and detect subtle asymmetries during locomotion.

A valuable tool to support clinical lameness evaluation and monitor progress over time.

Laura joined our clinic with a strong interest in equine internal medicine and neonatal care. Caring for foals and supporting them from the very beginning is something she finds very rewarding. At the same time, Laura values the diversity of cases in the clinic. She loves exploring all aspects of equine medicine and continuously expanding her knowledge and clinical insight. She’s very motivated to help provide the best possible care for each patient.

🦴 Fracture of the malleolus

This horse was diagnosed with a 6 week old lateral malleolus fracture and underwent CT imaging for precise assessment of the fracture configuration and surgical planning.

Based on these findings, CT-guided internal fixation was performed to restore the joint surface and promote optimal healing by compressing the fragment into the fracture bed.
