15 minute yin yoga flow with props 🧘🏽‍♂️

You'll need:
- a yoga mat
- two yoga blocks
- a bolster or a couple of pillows
- a blanket

💫 CHILD'S POSE with bolster (3 minutes)

Place a bolster vertically on your mat.
Kneel and sit back on your heels with your toes touching.
Extend your arms forward, place your forehead on the bolster, and relax.
Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and allow your spine to gently stretch.

💫 BUTTERFLY POSE with blocks (3 minutes)

Sit on your mat with your knees bent and the soles of your feet touching.
Place two yoga blocks under your knees for support.
Hold your feet with your hands and gently press your thighs toward the floor.
Relax and focus on your breath as you feel the inner thighs stretching.

💫 SUPPORTED FISH POSE with bolster (4 minutes)

Place the bolster lengthwise on your mat.
Sit with your legs straight in front of you and the bolster behind your hips.
Lean back, placing your upper back and head on the bolster.
Open your arms to the sides, palms facing up, and relax into the stretch.
Allow your chest and throat to open.

💫 SUPPORTED BRIDGE POSE with block (3 minutes)

Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet hip-width apart.
Place a block under your sacrum (the lower part of your spine).
Relax and breathe deeply, allowing the block to support your lower back.

💫 SAVASANA with blanket (2 minutes)

Lie flat on your back with the blanket over you for warmth and relaxation.
Close your eyes and take a moment to relax completely.
Focus on your breath, releasing any tension in your body.

Feel free to stay in each pose longer if you have the time. Remember to listen to your body and avoid any poses that cause discomfort or pain.
Yin yoga is about finding your edge and relaxing into the stretches, so be patient and gentle with yourself. 🌻

Enjoy your practice & save for later!

Did you know that the filling inside your favorite KURMA yoga props like meditation cushions and bolsters isn't just comfortable; it's also eco-friendly? 🌱

Our props are filled with buckwheat hulls, the residue from the process of separating buckwheat grains. 🌾 After a thorough wash and drying, they're repurposed for your relaxation.

What's fascinating is that the high demand for buckwheat hulls means they rarely end up in compost. Even when unshelled buckwheat exceeds its shelf life, it becomes biomass. When it's burned, it's essentially CO2 neutral, and the energy is reclaimed for sustainable purposes. ♻️

So, every time you find your zen on these cushions, you're also contributing to a more eco-conscious world! 🧘‍♂️💚

MEDITATION MONDAY:
1 minute focused breathing meditation 🧘‍♂️

Today, we're going to take just one minute to find some peace and calm in our busy lives. Let's begin! 🌾

Sit or stand comfortably in a quiet space.
You can close your eyes or keep a soft gaze.
Take a deep breath in through your nose, counting to four as you inhale.
Hold your breath for a count of four.
Exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of four.
Pause for another count of four before taking the next breath.
Continue this pattern of inhaling, holding, exhaling, and pausing for four counts each.
As you breathe, focus your attention on the sensation of your breath, the rise and fall of your chest or abdomen, and the sound of your breath.
If your mind starts to wander, gently bring your focus back to your breath.
Continue this for one minute.

As you finish this breathing meditation, notice how you feel.
Take this sense of calm and centeredness with you throughout your day. 🩵 Remember, even a short moment of mindfulness can make a big difference.

Are you trying this meditation exercise out?

Namaste 🙏

Using props effectively in your yoga practice can enhance your experience and help you achieve proper alignment and comfort 🧘🏼
Here are some tips:

🩵 Start with the basics
Begin with props that are commonly used, such as yoga blocks, a strap, and a bolster or cushion.

🩵 Listen to your body
Props are meant to support your practice, so listen to your body's needs. If you feel discomfort or strain, use props to make poses more accessible.

🩵 Alignment & support
Props can help you maintain proper alignment. For instance, use blocks under your hands in poses like triangle or half moon to reach the floor comfortably.

🩵 Balance & stability
Props can provide stability, especially in balance poses. A block under your foot or a wall for support can make balancing easier.

🩵 Modify & adapt
Don't be afraid to modify poses with props if you're a beginner or working through an injury. For example, use a chair for support in standing poses or seated stretches.

🩵 Bolster for comfort
A bolster or cushion can add comfort in restorative poses or during savasana. It helps you relax and stay in poses longer.

🩵 Use a strap
Yoga straps are excellent for improving flexibility. They can help you reach further in stretches or bind your hands in poses like cow face or gomukhasana.

Remember that yoga is a personal journey, and props are there to support you along the way. Feel free to adjust and adapt your use of props as your practice evolves and your needs change!

MINDFUL MONDAY TIPS 🌾

Mindfulness is about being fully present in the moment. Here are 2 tips to help you with that:

🌟 Practice non-judgmental awareness 🌟
Be kind and non-judgmental towards yourself, in life and during your yoga practice. Let go of self-criticism and accept where you are at this moment. Extend this compassion to others, fostering an atmosphere of understanding and acceptance in your interactions.

🌟 Cultivate gratitude 🌟
Take a moment to reflect on what you're grateful for. This can help shift your focus to the positive aspects of life and enhance your mindfulness practice.

Save for later 🩵

We often get asked how yoga props can support you in your practice at home. Over the next few weeks, we'll highlight some of their uses!

A pose where we always feel like we need a lot of props is supta baddha konasana or reclining bound angle pose. It's a relaxing pose that stretches and relaxes your muscles, if you support yourself with props wherever needed, as seen in the photo. Feel for yourself where you'd like some extra support, try some prop positions out until you're comfortable! 💆🏽‍♀️

How to get into supta baddha konasana:
1. Begin by sitting on your yoga mat with your knees bent and the soles of your feet together.
2. Allow your knees to drop open towards the mat, creating a diamond shape with your legs.
3. Gently recline onto your back while keeping your feet together and your knees apart.
4. You can support your knees and thighs with yoga props like bolsters or pillows to make the pose more comfortable.
5. Extend your arms alongside your body with your palms facing up.
6. Close your eyes, relax, and focus on your breath.

There are so much benefits to this pose: increased hip flexibility, improved circulation, digestive aid, and most of all relaxation. That's why we love it 🤍

We saved 1.3 million liters of water in the production of our yoga blankets.

Our super soft yoga blankets are made from 80% recycled cotton. By using a big amount of recycled cotton like this, we save 1.5 liters of water in the production of every single blanket as opposed to a 100% virgin cotton yoga one 💚

Because our mission is to be as low impact as possible, we're making impact assesments of all our products to see where we can improve. Expect to see more like this on the feed in coming weeks ♻️
