🧠 Head CT

👉🏻 This pony underwent a CT scan of the head. Advanced imaging helps us quickly identify dental problems, tumors, sinus issues, and fractures, and supports us in finding the most appropriate treatment.

📸 Foal OCD screening

Around 7 months of age is the optimal time to take radiographs of the stifle joints of your foal to screen for OCD. Early detection is key for healthy joint development.

👉🏻 The Smartnail fixation technique has a high success rate when OCD is identified and treated early. It is a minimally invasive technique in which a small, biodegradable nail is inserted through an OCD fragment to reattach it firmly to the underlying bone.
👉🏻 Treatment is only effective if the lesion is less than about 3 months old.

❗ After 11 months, fixation is usually no longer possible, as the cartilage flap is often already non-viable.

🇩🇪 Hans Wilderjans teaching in Germany

Last week, , DVM, ECVS travelled to Großhartpenning (Germany) to teach at the Equine Basic Arthroscopy Days. Together with Andy Bathe (UK) and Dwayne Rodgerson (USA), he guided participants through several fundamental arthroscopic procedures and practical techniques.

As part of the , we have a strong focus on high-quality, hands-on training and mentorship in equine surgery.

🐎 Leg wound surgery

This pony sustained a wire-related leg injury. Our surgical team cleaned, explored, and sutured the wound to support proper healing and reduce the risk of complications.

A routine castration performed under general anesthesia in dorsal recumbency. Controlled, sterile, and precise so we can ensure the best outcome for the horse.

🐴 The decision making on an open or closed castration depends on the age and the individual case of the horse.
