In a stressful situation, deep-seated emotions, buried for a long time, spring to the fore, and outbursts, commonly in the form of anger, or feelings of fear, frustration or sadness occur. Comments are often, โ€œThat was so out of character.โ€

Blocked ( repressed ) emotions leave one in a constant state of distress, and most times the root issue is not remembered (except of course, by the subconscious mind - these emotions are unprocessed emotions, and usually relate to childhood experiences).

Research has linked emotional repression to decreased immune system function. If the immune system doesnโ€™t work properly, one might get sick more frequently and/ or recover slowly.
Repressed emotions can also factor into mental health conditions, such as anxiety and depression.

Kinesiology practitioners are skilled in using acupressure. The points on the body used to release repressed emotions are called Accumulation Points (Xi-Cleft points). These allow the mind-body to relax and help restore function to entire being.
Accumulation points are also used in acute physical conditions.

What's involved: The Kinesiologist will apply firm (not painful) pressure to a series of acupoints as specified by the bodyโ€™s priority. These specific points are determined via muscle monitoring. The points are primarily on or near the joints .

Many clients feel a rapid but easy release of blocked emotions which may โ€œkeep it realโ€ for a minute or so, but most people feel a grounded, centered and relaxed experience throughout the release phase.

Fears and Phobias are emotions in the body โ€“ nerves, anxiety, negative perceptions, loss of perspective.

Fear is manageable and does not stop one getting on with life, and is usually a moderate response to triggers.
Phobias on the other hand are irrational and one cannot escape them.

Fears may be a useful protection mechanism however they can also evolve into behavioural issues that do need attention and help โ€“ insomnia, a stutter, self-perception issues, relationship issues, illness (physical and mental), etc.

Phobias are a force to be reckoned with. There are 2 types :
โ€œSimpleโ€ -accommodated into daily life (eg. avoiding cracks in pavements)
โ€œCompoundโ€ -affect life and cannot be ignored.

A phobia activates Flight/Fight/Freeze mechanism. They are irrational fears, triggered by ANYTHING -there is no area of life than cannot become a phobia. They become more intense over time. They have a strong link with persistent habits and addiction as a coping mechanism.

The good news: Well-schooled kinesiologists use gentle techniques to tune into the triggers and source(s) of the fear or phobia and rapid benefits by tackling anxiety on the level of reflexes are experienced.

Healing is a complex but beautiful process. Each of us is unique and therefore requires a unique journey to help us step through whatever wounds hold us back from our authentic selves.
If we seek help with this journey, it is important to choose the right supporters. They can only help deeply if they can hold the space for us and are clear of this particular wound themselves.

It does not matter whether they know intellectually or through their training what the answer to a problem is, or the essence of the healed state we are looking for, they have to be able to occupy that healed space completely if they are to help.

Kinesiology can have a profound impact within the energetic layers of the body, which filter through into the physical, and often the results are immediate.

An example of this is when we address the fight/flight response within a balance. Everyday pressures can trigger our fight/flight/freeze response. Over and above our emotional traumas and past experiences, this can be a โ€œlast strawโ€ situation.

Our body finds it difficult to reset the โ€˜stress switchโ€™ and we end up in a constant state of fight/flight mode.

Within a Kinesiology balance we apply tools and techniques to switch the brain from this survival stress state back to executive functioning; the nervous system comes back into balance bringing about an immediate physiological response.

People feel calmer and can think rationally when navigating stressful situations beyond their control.

Bring awareness to your breathing.
When we are anxious, stressed or suffer from respiratory conditions, our inhalations are shallow. Poor posture is also a factor.

Shallow breathing (thoracic or chest breathing) is the drawing in of minimal breath into the lungs, usually by inhaling into the upper chest area using the rib muscles rather than filling the lungs via the diaphragm muscles.

Deep breathing, (abdominal or belly breathing) involves inhaling slowly and deeply through the nose, causing the lungs to fill with air as the belly expands.

This type of breathing is associated with many health benefits, from reducing stress to lowering blood pressure.

If youโ€™re unsure of whether youโ€™re a shallow breather, place your palm just beneath your rib cage and exhale. Take a deep breath in. If your hand moves as your abdomen expands, youโ€™re breathing correctly.

If your hand only moves slightly but your shoulders elevate, you may want to consider practicing breathing exercises.

Your friendly kinesiologist has tried and tested techniques to rebalance lung function and the underlying causes.
The lungs are detoxification organs and need to be working effectively for good health.
You may tend to wake regularly between 1am-3am. Liver function peaks during these hours and you should be peacefully asleep - if not, there may be an issue to address. It could be physical, emotional, environmental, for example.

But for now, try this:
โ€ขSit comfortably.
โ€ขBreathe in through your nose for 6 seconds (try to fill your abdomen first, then up through your upper chest).
โ€ขHold your breath for 2-3 seconds.
โ€ขRelease your breath slowly through pursed lips.
โ€ขRepeat 10 times.

Applying pressure to acupuncture points can help stimulate the bio energy channels to communicate with the nervous system.
Some helpful points to stimulate our natural defenses are:
GB20, KD27, ST36, LU7, & LI4.
When locating points, feel for a tender spot or a natural little dip.

Most acupuncture points are noticeable once you find them!

Spend 30 seconds on each point. Apply firm pressure while breathing slowly and deeply into your abdomen.

Tip: Press the point on each side of the body to feel which one is more tender/sensitive. If you notice a difference, focus on the tender side.
Bonus tip: Acupressure points for immune support pair well with eucalyptus, pine, tea tree, frankincense, and lavender essential oils.

In every kinesiology session, we check in with the subconscious mind.
Before any corrections are made, we dial a little deeper and check if any sabotage programmes are in play. Without clearing attitude sabotages which arise as either psychological reversals or conflicts, the corrections will not last long, if at all.

Muscle responses to injury are designed to protect us from further injury and are supposed to last for a brief time before returning to normal.
However, if the injury is serious enough or lasts long enough, the muscle response continues and remains as โ€œmuscle memory.โ€

Some injuries have serious repercussions in other parts of the body.

According to Drs Crotty & Bronston, three of the big culprits causing muscle memory trauma are :

โ€ขsprained ankle
โ€ขroot canal
โ€ขmammogram

So many of us have experienced at least one of these, and some, all three!

Kinesiologists use a gentle protocol developed in the โ€˜80s by Dr Wally Schmitt, D.C.
called Injury Recall Technique (IRT).

IRT erases the neurological muscle memory enabling the brain to begin the healing process for that specific area.

IRT restores muscle balance to pre-injury status, often dramatically, relieving pain and restoring range of motion.

Injuries are not limited to the physical, but also affect our mind and spirit.

Kinesiology uses the combination of muscle monitoring and a variety of techniques to rebalance the energy around emotional stresses such as anxiety, depression and burnout, as well as physical stresses which cause discomfort or pain, nutritional issues and learning challenges.

One is never too young nor too old to benefit from kinesiology.
(When working with kids under the age of 7, we use a parent as proxy/surrogate. Also, parents are always present when we work with children.)

Getting to the root issue the best place to start. Shifts can happen very quickly. Sometimes if an issue has been around for a long time, a few more sessions may be needed.
