You already know the what and the why, but let’s get some of these other questions out of the way! The 2021 Tour is going to take place in the month of June, more specifically starting Sunday, May 18th, stretching over the next 7 days, covering 416 miles (670 km), climbing 49,000 ft of elevation and coming into contact with thousands and thousands of Burundians as we travel all across this tiny country. This year, our riders will be hailing from the UK, US, Canada, and Burundi! There are a small number of us living and working in-country, and we’ll be having the rest of our team fly in on May 14th to join us. We are businessmen, NGO country directors, medical professionals, police officers, students, fathers, brothers, sons! There are over 20 of us getting ready to throw our bikes in a box, board a plane and set off to Burundi this coming spring! Burundi is one of the poorest, hungriest, least developed, most densely populated in the world. That being said, the roads we will be navigating are outstanding! We will have a lead bus paving the way for us, and a trailing vehicle guarding our rear ends. We will be experiencing some of the most scenic and incredible riding possible, so we’ll have to try and keep our heads up when we’re slogging it up a mountain!
