Gingivectomy is a medical term that means removal of gingival (dental gum) tissue. Some patients have what is referred to as Incomplete Passive Eruption, where excess gingival tissue covers the teeth, making them appear much smaller (shorter) than they actually are. As you can see with this 32 year-old patient, when a Gingivectomy is appropriate, it can have an absolutely transformative effect on a patient’s smile.
