Being mindful especially during meal time means being present and conscious of what we are doing when we are doing it.

Here are a few questions to ask yourself as you begin to practice mindfulness.
Ask yourself.

🍎Am I hungry or am I just eating because of the time of day?

🍎Am I hungry or am I eating because I see and smell food?

🍎Do I feel hungry or am I eating because I am bored?….why am I bored?

Have you heard about mindful eating before?

Or Have you tried eating mindfully? How was it for you?

I stumbled upon mindfulness and mindful eating in one of my news letter subscriptions. I think is was by Life Hacks. The steps to practice mindfulness seemed so simple to me that I gave it a try. Before I knew it I was intentionally becoming more mindful about the little things. Like how the water felt and sounded when I washed my hands, or like the yummy aroma of the food on my plate. Implementing mindfulness as a practice in my life really did help me to appreciate my life much more.

Mindfulness isn't just for eating. We can become more mindful in every area of our lives.

Eat mindfully is engaging all of your senses. Notice how your food look, it's aroma, textures, flavours and sounds.

Doing this helps to be more connected to mind and body. It can also help you to be more present in the now.

Activate and use all of your senses during your next meal for a mindful experience.

Aside from peeling the squash this soup was pretty simple to make. With a bit of patience I know you can whip up a mean pot of this soup too!

Just 3 ingredients

🥣Acorn Squash | peeled and cubed

🥣A dash of Spices |
curry powder,
ground nutmeg,
ground cinnamon,
onion + garlic powder
dried thyme

🥣Coconut milk

Make it 🥣
First peel and cube your acorn squash. Then place them in a pot, fill half way with water. Cook on medium to low head until tender. Place in a blender or food processor with any remaining liquid and puree until smooth. Return it to the pot and add your spices and coconut milk. Make sure your fire is low. Stir for a few minutes and until everything is combined well. Serve and enjoy 😋

It's the fall season, and already I'm thinking up scrumptious comforting fall recipes.

I found the this picture perfect acorn squash in the store and brought it home with me to be my soup star for dinner.

FUN FACT: This was my very first time cooking and tasting an acorn squash.

I happily found out that mild, sweet, nutty flavor run in the squash family.
Take a peek at my stories to see how I prepared it!.

Ahh water! there is nothing else like it! Soul quenching, refreshing the source of life! There is no disputing we need it daily to feel and perform at our best.

Water reduces stress. Studies have shown that dehydration leads to higher cortisol levels—the stress hormone—making it harder to deal with everyday issues. By staying hydrated you will be better equipped to deal everyday problems.

Water cleanses the body of toxins. Water improves your blood circulation flushing out toxins and impurities. It also increases water in your skin cells which helps to get rid of wrinkles and helps you look younger.

Water can help to boosts your energy as dehydration leads to fatigue. By staying hydrated you stay energized.

Boost your mood, support your weight, and sharpen your focus by knowing when and how much to hydrate.

Here is a list of the best times of drink water.

💧First thing in the morning.
Drink one glass of water after waking up to help activate your internal organs. The water will help to remove any toxins before your first meal of the day.

💧Before & after work outs
Drink a cup of water about 30 minutes prior and sip during exercise, adds Mitri. Then be sure to hydrate well after your workout is complete to replace what you’ve lost through sweat.

💧30 min before & 1hr after meals
Drink one glass of water 30 minutes before a meal to help digestion. Remember not to drink too soon before or after a meal as the water will dilute the digestive juices. Drink water an hour after the meal to allow the body to absorb the nutrients.

💧Before a bath or shower
Drink one glass of water before taking a bath to help lower your blood pressure.

💧1 hr before bed
Drink one glass of water an hour before bedtime to replenish any fluid loss that can occur during the night.

Some times self care can look a bit different for us. Self care is not always about going to the spa or the salon.

Sometimes the best way we can care for ourselves is by learning to manage our stress.

Now I said mange because in life it's pretty difficult to completely avoid stress. We most likely will incure some level of stress through the day or week. So it is super important for us to learn how to manage stress.

Listen, stress isn't good for us in many ways, when we're stressed out It causes the body to release the hormone cortisol. Which affects all systems of the body.

Chronic stress, however, can cause or exacerbate many serious health problems, including: Mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety, and personality disorders. Cardiovascular disease, including heart disease, high blood pressure, abnormal heart rhythms, heart attacks, and stroke. Digestive diseases such as Irritable bowel syndrome causing an increase in inflammation.

Reducing stress can lower inflammation in the gut, improve digestion and help to keep you nourished.

Because you are a whole person and you deserve to feel whole. Give the tips in the slide above a try and let me know in the comments below if any of them helped you on your self-care journey.
