The hospital has successfully initiated a sensitization program and contact tracing on Tuberculosis, communicable diseases, and oral health across the three gewogs of Drametse, Balam, and Narang with support from National TB control programme, MOH. The sessions are being conducted by the hospital’s GDMO and Dental Hygienist.

This outreach program aims to cover a wide audience, including the general public, three monastic institutions, and five schools across the three gewogs, ensuring comprehensive community engagement and awareness.

Today, the team conducted sensitization sessions in two chewogs under Drametse Gewog, with a total of 80 participants attending the program. The sessions were well received and actively engaged the community.

The sensitization program will continue in the remaining locations over the coming days.

World Health Day 2026 A Walk for a Healthier Community.

On the morning of 7 th April, Drametse Hospital came alive with purpose as we marked World Health Day with a meaningful health walk around our community.
With this year’s theme, “Together for Health: Stand with Science,” our journey was not just a walk, it was a step towards raising awareness on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and promoting healthier lifestyles.

At exactly 8:00 AM, the march began from the hospital premises, filled with energy and unity. We were honored to be joined by our Gup, officials from the Gewog administration, Tshogpas, Village Health Workers, officers from the RBP, Dessup volunteers, and Drungtsho and Lopens from Drametse Dzong bringing together a team of around 38 participants.

Our first stop was Drametse Higher Secondary School, where we engaged with students and staff, sharing important messages on preventing NCDs. From there, we continued our journey along the scenic Trans Bhutan Trail, walking in solidarity toward Bagging Chiwog.

Beyond spreading awareness, our team also took responsibility for the environment. Along the way, we actively collected trash and cleaned the surroundings, gathering a significant amount of waste making our walk not just healthy, but also meaningful for our community and nature.

At Bagging, we were warmly received by the school community and local residents. Around 54 participants gathered for the sensitization session, making it a truly impactful and interactive experience.
In total, we covered approximately 15 kilometers, not just in distance but in spreading awareness, protecting our environment, building connections, and inspiring change.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Gewog Administration of Drametse for their unwavering support, and to Drametse HSS and Bagging Primary School for their time, hospitality, and refreshments.

Together, every step counts. Together, we can build a healthier and cleaner community.

A dedicated team from our hospital participated in an operation to uproot ma*****na plants in Domdey, Bikhar Thungdaree Chiwog under Drametse Gewog. The program was organized by the RBP office and saw active participation from DeSuups and community volunteers. We sincerely appreciate our team members for volunteering despite their busy schedules, and we thank the RBP office for organizing such an important initiative.

Ma*****na use poses several risks to health. It can impair memory, concentration, and decision-making, especially among young people. Long-term use may affect mental health, contributing to anxiety, depression, and in some cases, psychosis. It can also harm lung health when smoked and may lead to dependency. Preventing its cultivation and use is an important step toward promoting a healthier and safer community.

Globally, 1 in 5 girls is married before the age of 18.

Child marriage is not only a major risk factor for early pregnancy, it also increases risk of:

⚡️ Violence
⚡️ Dropping out of school
⚡️ Mental health conditions
⚡️ HIV/AIDS & other sexually transmitted infections

Every girl deserves health, education & the ability to shape their future.

Condoms prevent most sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV. Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) prevents HIV but not other sexually transmitted infections.

Choose both for maximum protection!

World TB Day Observance

Today, we observed World TB Day with a sensitization program for hospital staff and visiting patients. The session was conducted by the GDMO of the hospital, focusing on raising awareness about tuberculosis prevention and control.

The program was intentionally held outdoors to emphasize that TB is commonly transmitted in closed and crowded environments. All participants wore face masks to demonstrate how simple preventive measures, like mask-wearing, can help break the chain of transmission.

Together, let us stay informed, take precautions, and work towards a TB-free community.

Appreciation to Ambulance pilot Mr. Sonam zangpo for coming up with the poster.

The early onset of the monsoon has caused considerable damage within the hospital premises, with drains clogged by debris and berries carried by rainwater.

Despite these challenges and limited resources, our staff have been working tirelessly to ensure the hospital continues to function smoothly. From clearing blocked drains to cleaning up the damage, their dedication has been unwavering.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all our staff for their commitment and hard work in ensuring uninterrupted services and quality care for our patients. Kudos to the team for going above and beyond!

We kindly request all visitors to exercise caution while visiting the hospital area, as surfaces may be slippery and conditions unpredictable during this time.
