Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) such as High blood pressure, Diabetes, Heart diseases, Respiratory diseases and Cancers are the leading cause of deaths and disabilities in the world with 41 million deaths annually which is more than 113,000 deaths daily.
NCD causes kidney failure, stroke, blindness, paralysis or leg amputations, etc.. and leads to economic burden to the nation and individual level. NCDs are preventable with timely check ups and interventions.
The Ministry of health is organizing a nationwide NCD screening program to assess the risks at individuals level and initiate interventions such as lifestyle modification, dietary restrictions and medications to prevent premature death and disabilities.
