🇧🇼 BOTSWANA, DO YOU KNOW YOUR NUMBERS?

Babotana Renal Health Network proudly leads the movement:

The initiative adapts global ‘Know Your Numbers’ health promotion strategies to the Botswana context, focusing specifically on early detection and prevention of chronic kidney disease for all, also high-risk and underserved populations for future outreach

Know Today. Protect Tomorrow.

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) now cause nearly 59% of deaths in Botswana.
Hypertension affects 1 in 4 adults.
Diabetes is rising.
Kidney disease is increasing and is often silently.

Many people feel “fine” until serious damage has already occurred.

Prevention starts with awareness.

This month, we encourage every adult (18+) to check:

✔ Blood Pressure
✔ Blood Sugar
✔ Kidney Function (Creatinine, eGFR)
✔ Liver Function (as part of overall health)

This is not a clinic.
This is a community prevention movement.

Before disease finds you - know your numbers.

📢 INTRODUCING A NEW PREVENTION MOVEMENT IN BOTSWANA 🇧🇼
Today, Babotana Renal Health Network proudly launches: Know Today. Protect Tomorrow.

As part of our ongoing mandate to educate communities on kidney disease prevention and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), we're taking the next step to empower every adult in Botswana with knowledge and action.

Many people are living with high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, or related issues often without any warning signs. These "silent" conditions are on the rise: NCDs now cause over half of deaths in Botswana (around 59% in recent reports), with hypertension affecting 25-30% of adults, diabetes 3-8%, and kidney problems increasingly linked to uncontrolled BP and sugar levels.
By the time symptoms show, damage may already be underway. Prevention starts with awareness that's why this initiative encourages everyone to know their baseline health numbers through simple, timely checks:
✔ Blood Pressure ✔ Blood Sugar (for diabetes) ✔ Kidney Function (e.g., creatinine, eGFR) ✔ Liver Function Tests (as a broader health check)
This is not a clinic or hospital — it's a community education and prevention movement led by Babotana Renal Health Network.
Our goal is clear: Before disease finds you — know your numbers and take control.
We will, Share easy-to-understand education on each health number (what it means, normal ranges, why it matters)
• Guide you on where and how to get checked (clinics, labs, or home options)
• Collect anonymous community data via surveys to map awareness levels and guide our education
• Encourage annual baseline testing as a healthy habit

Coming soon: We’ll be launching participating clinics and partners across Botswana to make these checks more accessible and convenient for everyone!
If you're 18+ and have never checked your kidney function — this is your sign.
If you don't know your blood pressure or blood sugar today — this is your sign.
If liver health hasn't been on your radar — this is your sign too.
