Congratulations to all the students who performed well in the 2025 JCE results 👏🏽🎉 Your hard work, dedication and resilience have truly paid off and we celebrate every achievement.
However we cannot ignore the reality that over 13,000 learners will not make it to senior school and 7,239 candidates were ungraded. These are not just numbers they are children with dreams, potential and a future that now hangs in the balance.
This raises a serious concern about access to second chances and support systems for struggling learners. Programmes like the Bula Buka Programme have played a crucial role in giving students another opportunity to continue their education. If such programmes are not effectively run or supported by the administration what will happen to these thousands of children?
Education should never be a privilege for a few but a right for all.
We therefore call upon the Government of Botswana, the Ministry of Ministry of Child Welfare and Basic Education, Botswana , Ndaba Gaolathe and all relevant stakeholders to urgently strengthen intervention programmes expand alternative learning pathways and invest in learner support systems. No child should be left behind because of one examination.
Let us celebrate success — but also stand up for those who need help the most. 🇧🇼📚✨

I am proud to share this moment and reflect on how far we have come
As a former Vice Chairperson of Tutume District Children’s Consultative Forum I was part of the journey that advocated for children’s voices to be heard at national level🤍✨️
Project Bula Buka is one of the positive changes that came out of that fight
It shows that when children are consulted and included real impact is possible✊️
This is proof that our efforts were not in vain and that child participation truly matters

🇧🇼 First Day of School – A Respectful Call for Better Learning Spaces 🏫📚

Today marks the first day of school for thousands of learners across Botswana. It is a day filled with hope, excitement and new beginnings for our children. As they walk into their classrooms many are dreaming of a brighter future of becoming doctors, teachers, engineers and leaders of tomorrow.

I would like to respectfully acknowledge the efforts of the Duma Gideon Boko and the Ministry of Child Welfare and Basic Education, Botswana in ensuring that education remains a national priority. However as citizens and advocates for children we also have a responsibility to raise genuine concerns where improvements are needed.

Across different parts of the country some schools are facing serious challenges including aging of buildings, damaged classrooms, shortages of furniture, overcrowding and limited learning resources. These conditions make it difficult for learners and teachers to perform at their best especially on a day as important as the first day of school.

We kindly call upon the Ministry of Child Welfare and Basic Education and all relevant authorities to continue strengthening investment in school infrastructure, renovation and maintenance particularly in schools that are most affected. Improving classrooms, sanitation, electricity, water supply and learning materials will greatly enhance the quality of education and the well-being of our learners.

Our children deserve safe clean and inspiring places to learn. As Botswana moves forward let us work together _ Government, communities and partners to ensure that every child is given the best possible environment to grow, learn and succeed.
Today as the school year begins may it also be a reminder of our shared duty to protect and uplift the future of Botswana through quality education. 🇧🇼✨

🌍✨ FROM VOICES TO VICTORY! ✨🌍
As a young advocate for children and youth this moment truly matters to me ❤️. Through the National Children’s Consultative Forum (NCCF) we raised our voices about the painful reality of young people being pushed out of the education system talented, capable youth left with limited options 🚪💔. Today I proudly celebrate the Ministry of Child Welfare and Basic Education, Botswana , Honourable Nono Kgafela-Mokoka for responding with action through the Bula Buka Programme 👏🏽📚. This initiative proves that children advocacy is not in vain when we speak leaders can listen and when they listen lives change 🙌🏽✨. Bula Buka is opening new pathways through education, skills development and second chances, ensuring that no children is defined by where they once fell 💪🏽🌱. This is more than a programme; it is a powerful reminder that policy can have a human heart ❤️🇧🇼. Let us continue to advocate, support, and uplift initiatives that put children and children and youth first! 📣🔥🌈

As the vice chairperson of the TUTUME DISTRICT CHILDREN CONSULTATIVE FORUM I I am articulate my aims for developing my rural district but also for every children country wide.

As Vice Chairperson of the TutumeDistrict Children’s Consultative Forum, my vision is rooted in fostering an environment 😍👌where every child in our rural district has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their circumstances🥺🤞. My objectives are grounded in the belief that children are the cornerstone of our future, 💪, and it is our responsibility to nurture, protect, and empower them.

1. Empowering the Voices of Rural Children: One of my primary aims is to ensure that the voices of children in our district are not only heard but also respected in local and national decision-making processes. Through robust dialogue and advocacy, I will work to bridge the gap between rural communities and policymakers, ensuring that the needs, challenges, and aspirations of our children are at the forefront of every conversation.

2. Enhancing Educational Opportunities: Education is the foundation of development, and I aim to work tirelessly to improve access to quality education for every child in Tutume, especially those in marginalized and remote areas. I will advocate for resources that support both formal and informal learning, ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, has access to the tools they need to reach their full potential.

3. Fostering Child Rights Awareness: I am committed to raising awareness of children’s rights within our district, ensuring that families, educators, and community leaders are equipped with the knowledge and tools to protect and uphold these rights. By fostering a culture of respect and dignity for every child, we can create a safe and nurturing environment that promotes both personal and communal growth.

4. Improving Health and Well-being: The health and well-being of our children are paramount to their success. I aim to advocate for better healthcare services, nutritional programs, and mental health resources tailored to the unique challenges of rural life. My goal is to ensure that children in Tutume not only survive but thrive, physically and emotionally.

5. Promoting Inclusive Community Development: Rural children should never feel left behind in the march toward progress. I aim to promote inclusive community development programs that create opportunities for children to engage in social, cultural, and economic activities, empowering them to contribute to their community's growth.

Through collaborative efforts with fellow leaders, stakeholders, and the community, I am committed to fostering a brighter, more equitable future for every child in Tutume District. Together, we can build a society where the rights, well-being, and potential of every child are prioritized and realized.
