4TH VUNANI ANNUAL BOTSWANA WOMEN SPORTS AWARDS SET FOR MARCH 27

The 4th Vunani Annual Botswana Women Sports Awards will be held on March 27, 2026, in Gaborone, celebrating outstanding achievements in women’s sport for the period January 1 to December 31, 2025.

Organised by Inside BW Women Sports, the awards continue to champion gender parity and excellence across the sporting landscape. Applications are now open and will close on February 27, 2026.

This year’s theme, “Honoring Women Shaping Botswana’s Sporting Legacy,” underscores the initiative’s growing national impact.

Since its inception in 2023, the platform has recognised more than 51 female athletes, administrators and sports journalists, awarding nearly P500,000 in prize money.

Winners also benefit from a post-awards capacity-building workshop aimed at strengthening leadership and professional development in sport.

Chief Executive Officer Kesego Kebelaele-Okie credited partners and sponsors for sustaining the initiative, with special recognition to Vunani Fund Managers for its P600,000 investment in 2024 under a three-year sponsorship agreement.

She also acknowledged the continued support of the Ministry of Sport and Arts and called on the private sector to deepen its involvement.

The awards feature 16 categories, including Sportswoman of the Year, Sportswoman of the Year with Disability, Young Promising Athlete and Team of the Year.
