Afrikan Overlanding Throw in a taste for the finest steaks, wine and a sharp eye for a great pic

What do you call a dynamic group of individuals who enjoy the outdoors, overlanding and off-roading, combining that with a passion for nature and an undying love for exploration?

Before heading out for a sundowner, Gsk quickly fried some gizzards so we could snack before the drive to Moreswe Pan. Then came the plot twist, Mmoloki suggested we also make a full chicken while he took a "quick shower". No one saw the need because, honestly, we thought the gizzards had us sorted.

He cooked the chicken anyway, packed it in the pot, and off we went. Turns out the drive was loooong, hunger hit hard, and that chicken? Cleared in under three minutes flat.

Moral of the story: never argue with the guy who cooks “just in case.” 😂

If there’s one thing the guys love at camp, it’s good food and great conversations. Bread with stew was on the menu, and the conversations got so good we almost burnt the bread 😅 but we enjoyed it anyway. After that we headed out for a game drive, spotting more wildlife.

“Like Moleta says, a man who doesn’t change his mind is a fool.”
These were Gsk’s words after witnessing the beauty of Khutse Game Reserve.

Many believe Khutse doesn’t have much to offer, especially in green season, and especially when it comes to predator sightings. Gsk was one of them 😄

This past weekend proved otherwise. Khutse was lush, green, and alive. The animals showed up, the landscapes were unreal, camp meals were 🔥 as always, and catching up with the guys made it even better.

Biggest lesson? Patience.
If we didn’t have it, we would’ve missed a lot.

Green season did its thing

"Nnyaa bathung, this event can't be happening once a year, le ha ebile go tweng" lamented Terry Mapitse who is a regular at our Open Days. This year the Open Day was bigger and better. As usual, fun was had, people came with their friends and families to spend the day with AOC in the dry riverbed of the Metsimotlhabe River in Thamaga.

Several people shared Terry's sentiments that one public event a year is not enough. Nnyaa mme re utlwile, re tla seka seka kgang e mme re boele ko go lona. Once again thank you all for making this event a huge success.

We have a long standing tradition of naming our bars as Batswana. We have some of the most interesting names. There used to be a bar in Mookane called "Bua o dira". One wonders why the owners came up with this name. Ele gore batho ba ne ba bua hela mme ba sa dire?

In Molepolole, as you exit the village driving towards Letlhakeng, there is one called "The Pub With No Name". Were the owners oit of names? One wonders. The name that takes the trophy for its name is "Motsetsi o a tsena"bar just behind MCE in also in Molepolole😂😂😂.

And it is in the spirit of the name of the last bar mentioned, that we congratulate fellow overlander and new daddy .serite for his new born baby this past week. Thank you for taking time to come spend a few hours with us at our Open Day.

Ka nnete Motsetsi o a tsena!😂

TIPS FOR TOMORROW KO Thamaga.
-Lowering tyre pressures can generally improve traction and reduce track erosion (normally between 15 and 22 psi)
- Make sure you re-inflate them to correct pressures for road work for the trip home.
-Make sure the front wheels are pointing straight ahead
When starting off
-If you find you are starting to get stuck, try to reverse out along your own tracks
-Avoid sharp turns and wheel spin
-STRICTLY NO racing
-Keep a safe distance behind other vehicles
-There will be a trained 4x4 Marshall leading all of us and giving tips on what to do, where and when. Please cooperate.
- Bring a foldable table to prepare meals and serve from
- Strictly no littering, let’s us leave the place cleaner than we found it.
