World Kidney Commemoration Day Event

The Nephrology Society of Botswana (NeSBo) in collaboration with Francistown DHMT hosted the World Kidney commemoration at Cheduchoga Hall under the theme: ‘Are Your Kidneys Ok’ Detect Early, Protect Kidney Health’.

The objectives for this event were promotion and dissemination of knowledge and information amongst healthcare workers to improve outcomes of patients with kidney diseases, creating awareness in the community on kidney diseases and advocating for patients with kidney diseases.

The major causes of kidney diseases are Hypertension and Diabetes, which are also rising in the communities. The Minister of Health, Dr Stephen Modise who was the guest speaker at the event encouraged the public to keep their blood pressure in check and to maintain a well-balanced diet.

DONGA CLINIC AND DONGA WDC WELLNESS
The Donga Clinic alongside Donga WDC hosted a community wellness event. The theme for this event was ''Empowering Prevention and Early Detection. The objectives for the event was to create cancer awareness and remove the stigma and fear attached to cervical cancer. They also raised awareness following challenges faced in the community such as GBV, alcohol, and drug abuse.
