SHARING!

My name is Shaphan Domingo, and I am a resident of Hattieville, where I was born and raised. I was a tour guide working for Bak-A-Bush ( now Chukka) airboat outpost. Unfortunately, my career was significantly impacted on January 27, 2007, 18 and a half years ago.

At the time, I was only 20 years of age. I can still remember it like it was yesterday. This incident originated from an ongoing issue from high school. I had so many encounters with this person after being chased after multiple times, physical attacks, and other altercations; that night was the last straw, and I fought back. I was hanging out and he approached me where we got into a physical altercatiom with each other and as a result, I decided to depart from the area. However, he had other plans and one thing lead to another. I was shot four times in the process.

Subsequent to the incident, I incurred severe injuries leading to paralysis below the chest. This condition has substantially impaired my mobility and required a period of recovery and a significant adjustment to my daily routine. Several years later, I experienced another life-altering event that resulted in the loss of both legs. I was devastated but i know that I wanted to avoid a life of inactivity.

Honestly me accepting the enduring nature of my lack of mobility posed a considerable obstacle but my commitment to advocacy has been unwavering, and I have actively voiced my perspectives. My involvement with several impactful organizations, which provided support and mentorship, has significantly shaped my personal and professional development as of today. I have adopted a proactive approach to my life challenges. Even commencing online work in 2020, I found myself re-entering the workforce, a prospect I had not anticipated for many years. Despite the challenges I faced my dedication, resilience, and the support received have culminated in a positive outcome, it enabled me to maintain a fulfilling life and engage in activities comparable to those of the general and for that I have been thankful.

I am now one of the proud managers of a BPO located in the US.
I now have the ability to help myself, my family and any other persons I'm able to assist. I don't have it all but with time and God, things are working together for my good.

My Story

My name is Zarah Castillo, and I am a young Belizean who experienced a life-changing event. In September 2023, I was involved in a road traffic accident that left me paralyzed from the waist down.

Before this, I had so many dreams—like opening a small business, becoming a lawyer, and chasing all the things I was passionate about. And while things haven’t turned out the way I expected, I’ve learned that life doesn’t stop. I didn’t stop.

Since the accident, I’ve been doing what I can to keep moving forward. I completed my associate degree in Paralegal Studies, participated in a nails course, and I’m even working toward becoming a good nail technician. These steps remind me that no matter the obstacles, I still have purpose, potential, and power.

It hasn’t been easy—but I keep pushing myself to do the things I know I can do. This journey has taught me that even when life changes in the most unexpected ways, we all have the strength to rise. You just have to believe in yourself and take that first step.

Hello Followers and Welcome to my page!

Everyone Can Belize is more than a page—it's a growing movement built on empathy, inclusion, and the unwavering belief that every person, regardless of ability or appearance, has value, purpose, and potential.

Our mission is to create a safe and supportive community for persons with disabilities in Belize—one where voices are heard, needs are acknowledged, and dreams are possible. We advocate for greater access to therapy, healthcare, equipment, education, and opportunities. We speak up for those who are often overlooked and invite others to do the same.

We aim to raise awareness, challenge harmful stereotypes, and change the way society views disability—not as a limitation, but as part of the beautiful diversity of the human experience. Through storytelling, shared experiences, community events, and calls to action, we work to show that everyone can do something—whether that’s achieving personal goals, inspiring others, or being a source of strength.

This page is also a space for connection. We welcome anyone who wants to support, learn, or contribute—whether you're a person with a disability, a caregiver, a medical professional, an advocate, or simply someone who wants to make a difference. You’re invited to share your story, listen to others, and help us push for real change—because together, we can make Belize a more inclusive, compassionate place for all.

Let’s build a future where accessibility is a right, not a privilege, and where every person knows: you are seen, you are valued, and you can.
