Celebrating leadership, compassion, and excellence this Women’s Month 💜🌸
Meet Dr. Veronica Yasmin Rosado — a proud daughter of Benque Viejo del Carmen and an extraordinary leader in women’s health whose life’s work has impacted countless families across Belize.
With more than two decades of experience in medicine, Dr. Rosado has dedicated her career to advancing women’s health, maternal-fetal care, surgical innovation, and medical education. Her work reflects not only medical expertise but also a deep sense of ethical responsibility and commitment to strengthening healthcare systems across the country. 🩺
Dr. Rosado began her academic journey at Mount Carmel Primary School, where she graduated as Valedictorian. She continued her studies at Sacred Heart College, once again earning the distinction of Valedictorian. Driven by her passion for science, she then attended St. John’s Junior College, where she graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Science with Honors.
Her dream of becoming a physician led her abroad to pursue her medical studies at the University of San Carlos in Guatemala, where she earned her Medical Degree. She later specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hospital Roosevelt in Guatemala, obtaining her specialty diploma from the same university.
Throughout her distinguished career, Dr. Rosado has served in major healthcare institutions across Belize, including Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, Northern Regional Hospital, and Western Regional Hospital. After retiring from government service, she transitioned to the private sector and now serves as the Medical Director at St. Luke Hospital in Belmopan, where she continues to lead and inspire.
Her commitment to learning remains unwavering. In 2024, she traveled to Costa Rica to complete advanced studies in Hysteroscopy, further strengthening her expertise in women’s health. She is also internationally recognized as Belize’s representative in the International Urogynecological Association and is a member of the International Gynecologic Cancer Society. 🌍
Recently, Dr. Rosado received international recognition when she was conferred a double PhD (Honoris Causa) in Public Health and Science and was presented with the International Award of Excellence in San Francisco, California.
Beyond hospitals and conferences, Dr. Rosado has devoted her time to humanitarian outreach, providing reproductive health services, family planning education, cancer screening, and life-saving medical care to rural and underserved communities throughout Belize. Her work has empowered women, educated communities, and contributed to the development of stronger healthcare protocols that improve women’s health outcomes nationwide.
Dr. Rosado shares this powerful message:
Seek God’s wisdom in every choice you make. Dream boldly and work hard with discipline, kindness, and humility. It does not matter where you come from — your roots are not a limitation; they are your strength. When you lead, do it with courage and always serve others.
Today we celebrate Dr. Veronica Yasmin Rosado, a remarkable physician, leader, and humanitarian whose faith, dedication, and compassion continue to transform lives and inspire future generations. 👑✨
